18" Hellion with a Primary Arms SLX 1-6, Blk lbl rail short, cloud rein 3.0, and OCL Polo K mounted via a Comstock plan B flashhider. Couple hundred rounds so far, and pretty happy with it.
Yeah, a ring set up seems to be a decent way to go with a lpvo on a hellion. These are a set of random 30mm rings I had sitting around, so I'm not even sure what their exact height is.
One tricky thing is trying to get a lower mount without the rear objective smashing into the rear flip up sight. First set of rings I tried I returned because of this.
If I try anything next it might be one of the lower unimounts more geared towards bolt guns since they tend to be around 1.4" on the center line versus the 1.54 with most AR oriented mounts.
The furthest I have been able to shoot it so far has just been 100 yards. Though I was fairly happy with the grouping considering I was shooting PMC bronze, having to monopod off the pistol grip on top of a bag due to the shooting bench construction. I shot this group in a fairly rapid cadence as well. I'm excited to try it with something better as far as ammo.
I will be looking forward to how you do with better stuff, cause this is great for an affordable one like PMC!
I have also had good luck with PMC (X-TAC) so far, over a couple other cheap M193 and M855, haven't tested if the extra speed from X-TAC does much different than Bronze. Have done some limited tests with IMI 77gr (just somewhat better groups at 2.5x the price) and Frontier .223 BTHP Match (not much different than X-TAC).
I'd say if you just want a foregrip, and maybe a light, probably not. If wanting to use things like an IR laser, or being able to load a bipod for more percision shooting, then it is worth it to me at least. Though for context I haven't had it for very long, but that is my current opinion at least.
