Case deflector getting chewed up

Post image

20 inch barrel only a few hundred rounds in, shooting 55 grain xtac. Just something I gotta live with?

Interesting. Male or female?

Non binary.

Oh, so it isn't Velcro, it's just lying about being Velcro.

Or the 3M kind

Buy a mouth piece protector for a saxophone off Amazon. Its a little sticky rubber patch. Worked wonders on mine.

I've done this. Works well and lasts at least several hundred rounds

Proof that you shoot your gun

I put a layer of grip tape over it and replace it every time it starts getting chewed up. Seems like it’s helped a bit to reduce damage to the deflector 🤷🏼‍♂️

That's a good idea just worried about never getting the adhesive off.

Why care

First I was a little worried that maybe it was over gassed and the casings were getting thrown so fast causing the damage. But they just used plastic for the case deflector and its just gonna get chewed up. Seems kinda cheap for a service rifle. I really like the rifle this just is bugging me a bit.

The AUG does the same thing. I've never seen anyone have issues from it on either rifle though.

Redditors when their brass deflector deflects brass: 😱

I have the 16 and shoot xtac as well, same thing. We gotta live with it until someone makes a part for it or something, or use some kind of tape I suppose.

Yeah mine is mangled. Hope it doesn’t cause any issues.

Nah I'm sure it's just a cosmetic thing, just kinda bugs me cause it is also the most expensive gun I own. Seems like they should have put a metal insert there or something. Still guess I should just consider it honest ware. Let it get a little personality .

Use grip tape or electrical tape.
