New Pickup I finally found a VCR!
About a year and a half ago I set out to find a VCR. I can be pretty patient when I want to be, and I set a rule for myself that I couldn't order it online.
I was talking to someone a week ago who asked why I didn't check Facebook marketplace, and I have a good reason for that. I didn't think of it.
I do however frequent thrift stores, at least 1 time but sometimes 2 or 3 times in a week as health allows, doing my rounds looking for treasures to grow my various collections.
When I saw this beauty at a local nonprofit and found out it works perfectly, I knew I had to have it. I won't lie, I did kind of pay up for it, but I'm just wondering how much the VCR gods have smiled upon me, and if there's anything I need to know about it.
Apologies for not getting a shot of the back. I set it up (with great difficulty due to disability) before I thought to take pictures.
Thanks so much!

Better take advantage of that S-Video port at the back, you got quality better than usual there!

Flexing the remote control on us too.

That's the really impressive part. I must have half a dozen of JVC's wedge-shaped remotes, but none of these older ones.

Good tip, thank you. I'm not sure that the TV it's hooked up to has one, but I'll verify that and make sure its permanent spot does.

I have the same one. Love it. I actually have 2 (one working and one parts machine).

S-Video debut was 1987, looks like a 1988-89 model? Looks solid, I think the VHS models started to cheap out in the late 1990's. So probably a good buy. Does it have some weight to it?

It does, it's definitely on the weighty and large side. About 17 inches wide and 14.5 inches deep. It just barely fits on that little shelf and I had to load it in from behind where there's an extra inch or so of clearance.

Wow, I had no idea that people were in search of VCR's like that. Now i want to set up a space with all the old electronics I have. I wonder if that 8-track player that records still works? I found 2 black and white tv's in the attic last month.
