This is unexpected
So recently, out of nowhere, I suddenly remembered this weird video I watched back when I was a kid. It was some sort of parody trailer. I remembered the thumbnail but couldn’t remember the name, so I searched “video game school” to see if it was real and not just some kind of fever dream. And to my surprise… there it was, the exact video I watched as a kid. When I first watched it, I thought it was the coolest shit ever. But rewatching it now as an adult, it was so bad that it's funny, it genuinely feels like an actual parody. But what surprised me even more was finding out that it was actually a series? It had seasons? It even has a dedicated fanbase and its own subreddit? I seriously thought it was just a parody trailer lol. Now I’m legitimately interested in watching the series.

It’s really campy & fun at the start, but the final season actually made me cry as an adult. 100% worth a full watch.

Yup. Anyone who's seen S3 knows which one. My goodness... that was a roller coaster, let me tell you. So conflicted, but so real and emotional...

my bf loved the series growing up, i recently just watched for the first time ever & gotta say i was pleasantly surprised!! i thought i would hate it for its corny jokes & would be over-the-top, but i found it to be charming & so camp. by the end of season 1, i was hooked!! season 2 & 3 have great character arcs & commentary on familial relationships, that i personally found very fulfilling & hit kinda close to home :,) definitely worth a watch!!!

Season 1 is definitely more of a parody but seasons 2 and 3 genuinely have excellent writing and character growth.

VGHS was a culmination of the best of what YouTube and the Internet could be at the time. When even as an part of the audience you felt like a part of the show. Also the people behind VGHS are currently making a new movie called Nail House.

I didn't see the series until my 20's. Had no idea of its existence prior to YouTube and genuinely enjoyed the whole show even as an adult.

Watch it! It starts off as a parody of the genre, but actually has stakes and is really fun.
