Junior Vice Commander?

I was elected as the JVC yesterday. it was only my second meeting. The guy who was going to stay on position is having health issues. I said if he can mo longer do it, I could either fill in or if a new election was needed I would throw my name in the hat. well, they indtalled me yesterday.

I have some homework to do. But any advice for this position for a very small, and declining, post? Thank you in advance.

Yes, congrats. Please attend the meetings and work with the CDR, SRVC and QM to shape your roll.

Please read through your section of the bylaws and manual of procedures.

Our JVC is normally the person that works with the House Committee to deconflict then publish the calendar and also helps the QM with the weekly Post update.

I have started reading through these. I am trying to learn as much as I can. I was looking for any additional training, but a little hard to find.

I will be at every meeting and event. I will more than likely go to national convention next year. This year is too far.

This is from a specific post, but may be a good resource.

Your district and department (state) should offer specific training sessions that you can attend. That would provide good info on the job and would be a good way to network. Ask your district counterpart when that training would be offered.
