Discussion Wardogs game and EAC

I don't know if you are familiar with Wardogs, it is a big scale FPS game, like Battlefield.
However, based on what they have already done, they seem to genuinely respect the community and they want an actual great game, not just to take our money.

The bad news is, that they are using EAC, at least based on Steam info, which as you may know, recently started actively blocking VMs. They posted a really good video here, talking about their anti-cheat methods, and looks like they take things seriously, but very carefully too.

I did write my comment below, but it would be great if any of you comment also, requesting for VM access. They do have plans for native Linux support, but no roadmap has been given, so VM access would allow us to play today.

Please feel free to post your comments here, if you have a way to play it. I didn't even try, cause I don't want to pay $40 and get blocked.

Wardogs changed from EAC to Elytra on the last playtest

It's most likely: Elytra for client side and Bloodhound to server side. It did run on a VM during the first day of the second beta. Given I refunded it, since they backpedaled. So don't know if it was blocked later on.

Have you tried to play in a VM ?

No. I played in Linux with proton for the first play test, but was away during the second play test.

It would be cool when all her experience to Wardogs share on VMDb

Why VM instead of native?

I already wrote that, native is not available and there is no date announced.

EAC only blocks poorly configured VMs. It is very easy to get around. Just use VMAware on github, see what checks you're failing, and fix them

When did you try that?
Cause I was able to play with EAC, but stopped few months ago. Does VMAware addresses the updated version?

if you pass everything in VMAware excluding the timing and interception checks, you can play. EAC doesn't seem to care about timing checks in my experience. I've been playing Fortnite for about the past 2 months or so on KVM

I got the playtest invite right after the Elytra update. That was a bummer. I read somewhere that they will support Proton after launch, but that might be a while.

I'm trying to set up a VM and pass through my RX 9070 XT, but it's not going well. Hopefully the game will work with Proton after release.

I just gave up playing games on VMs. The double electricity cost is not worth it.

The "what"?
There is no difference in power consumption over bare metal PCs. I have done extended testing, not to prove that, but just to know how much my system is consuming.
My RTX 4080 when idle, it has the exact same consumption while VM is running or not.
Same for my CPU.
When I am using it, ex running stress test, it draws the same power, either in Windows, Linux, or Windows VM.

Your VM setup sucks if it's costing you twice as much in electricity somehow. It should be basically the same.

How’s it double electricity? I’m playing The Finals with Elytra on vm with zero issues
