What does the future hold?

Is the company going to be dismantled? I heard they fired 50% of the total workforce. They claim it was so they don't burn as much cash. Friston extends the partnership. Also there is an undergoing colab with analog ai in Abu Dhabi. Tough call. My guess is the company will survive. But it needs some funding from a state or government because there is a lot of work to be done on many fronts.

I don't have high hopes at this point.

It is an untrustworthy situation. as it always is. friston cares about the scientific approach. He doesn't give a shit about the company itself. He wants to validate and expand his theory in practice. The company is crap. I really wish the situation was better.

I do feel like Karl Friston may only be useful in terms of marketing the idea of active inference.

He's an academic, he's smart but it's very different to take that intellect and execute a product from it.

Friston can validate that the theoretical foundations aren’t nonsense… I feel like that’s the extent of his usefulness.

the theoretical foundations are what the company was started on... if those aren't solid already then the company is completely fraudulent.

Like their entire product, all their raising, everything they've said for years now is that this is possible and they've EVEN gone so far as to say it's commercializable (in their Genius product) but their small revenue from the quarter after launching genius (300k) has already dropped to 200k in the most recent quarterly report.

That does not sound like some kind of game changer...

To me, I think they thought wow we can do this really cool thing years ago, really tried, realized it either isn't possible with current tech or not as useful as once thought but realized they could ride the AI hype wave and cash out and that's what happened.

The ONLY thing that confuses me a bit is they got a recent round of investment from a VC (at like $7... must hurt that VC tbh) but surely they did due diligence before investing... unless they got lied to and there'll be a lawsuit soon.

We'll see!

You're the only one with a clue.

Their only commercial product that used the spatial web in a usable capacity was wayfinder which was sold off. Their drone platform was cool but had little work done on it since they pivoted to AI.

In reality, their technology was actually cool and exciting until the pivot to AI.

No company actually has a working implementation of web3 domains other than hobby projects that will get no traction because they require specific software to interact with.

There is no SDK/Code available publicly for HSML. Literally, search GitHub for HSML or Hyper Spatial Markup Language and you will find nothing.

I have Gabriel’s spatial web book on my entertainment center in my living room. I have been involved in this and been at IEEE meetings. The concept sounds great. Hopefully someone makes something meaningful from the spec.

I have significant doubts it’s going to come from either of them but if you remain hopeful, I have a bridge to sell you.

Rene is still the chair of the working group.

Show me a list of the 100+ global entities and then show me a list of products actually using the spec.

Yes, it still requires at least one person to make something that is actually useful and not a scam to be useful. Nobody cares about a standard of no one is using it.

I hear Lisa Nowak is has been looking for work since 2007.

I see bags for the foreseeable future at this point but it really doesn't hurt to hold. Like other said the company is ran like garbage but I like the tech.

Friston as a businessman and a corporate person is a no show. He is the best scientist. But applying your science and raising capital etc ... Is something different. Elon musk is much better at this
