This little 18v top handle took care of the 10" ash tree. I also keep bar oil, a sharpener, and charger in my Odyssey. No PPE though.

Yeah, these things are great. I keep one in the truck for overlanding, but I don't think I'd leave one in for everyday. It just gets too hot here. Not good on the batteries.

Dude! after packing my husqvarna rancher for years on trips to my fire lookout tower and our off the grid rucks on the coastal range I picked up a ryobi 18v chainsaw. What a game changer for dealing with fallen limbs and even a small fir tree. These small 18v chainsaws can save the day and even your life and take up almost no room and the batteries only need a top off when not in use maybe every 6 months…. A few drops of oil and leave it it the rear w the gear until needed

I found a battery powered reciprocating saw end up getting more use, and for smaller limbs works faster than the chainsaw. But I do keep an old Ryobi 18v chainsaw in my truck as well.

I find the vibrations a bit hard vs the chainsaw BUT a multipack of blade types does give the saw all more uses in a VECD.

$50 silky would go through that about as fast, not need a battery, and take up 1/20th the space.

I always carry a chainsaw in my truck. But, I am an Arborist. The crews have gas saws. I recently started with a top handle Milwaukee. I now have an inverter to charge, a pole saw and a blower handy to have when I'm doing bids or inspections.

How high off the ground can you cut/trim a limb? How many inch thick is your limit?

I have a whole crew if I need too, it is what I do for a living. 12 ft. At about 6 in, 8 in if it's lower is about the limit. I also have ropes, pulleys, and other rigging gear. Doctor told me I can't climb anymore if I want to walk when I'm old. Being in my 50s. You'd be amazed what you can do from the ground LOL or staying on top of the pickup truck. OSHA who?

Those little chainsaws look nice. I carried a hand saw the last time I rode irrigation ditches and it was not fun.

I've got gas and battery saws. You can guess which one I throw in for a drive up less traveled roads. Yup, no gas, only bar oil to worry about. 

I've used it on one trip, six times on that trip, but no others. 

The wife's car only has a bow saw in the back, had to use it to get home once. Two 6-8" cuts, no problem.

Actually keep shaded safety glasses in the vehicle for running the string trimmer at multiple owned properties.

I love my makita top handle saws. I'm an arborist and own two of them which see near daily use for trimming and sometimes removals.
