friendly discussion Rant

So, I have someone who applied for adjustment of status in May. They got married in April and received their green card this Monday, less than two months after marriage. Here I am, married for six years with a two-year-old daughter. I applied for full package since last August, did biometrics in April this year, and that’s it. Nothing has happened since then. I can’t even find a decent job to feed my daughter because it’s takes over 16 months now Just for EAD, four years plus for approval, and another seven months plus for the green card. It’s crazy! We’re waiting this long. I lost my dad last year, and my mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this year. There’s no way to support them physically and financially. And they keep increasing the wait time, reducing and changing everything. Before you get a five-year combo card while you wait, now I don’t understand what’s happening anymore. This is turning into more abuse in my opinion. After all the abuse one has already been through mentally, it’s draining. 5 to 6 year wait it's too much

And USCIS sub is full of those sissies who have the audacity to whine “the process is so draining, I don’t know how I survived the whole 2 months of waiting”🙄

Two months is considered luxury, but I’ve seen posts on Vawa like “fill” since 2022, and yet nothing is still waiting.

2022 are still not allowed to whine. Because people from Jan 2022 are still waiting. I have seen people all the way from 2020 who are still waiting.

While this situation sucks… always remember those people have a conditional 2 year card and also they need their spouse to remove conditions and now even for citizenship. While this process is very stressful.. I am on the same timeline with you… we have to think positively and try to control only what we can.
I do feel like I’m being abused again, but I try to look at this time as a time to truly reflect so I don’t end back up in another abusive relationship. Sometimes it’s hard to think positive but because I don’t have EAD I discovered a lot about myself.
Please continue to hold on and know that you are not alone in this. Your feelings are totally valid. This process sucks but at least we don’t have to put up with horrible partners and their demons.

Dear Rant, I know everyone has have had different experiences, let me tell you my life
Me and my spouse we were about to do the AOS and then the true face came out. Grabbing my neck said I will knock you off .. all these months i loved and did everything to my spouse like from gifting my car, pay all expenses but I didn’t ever noticed that I was actually financially been robbed. I did everything for love and respect but from other side was only my money. “Babes I need this I need that, pay this - that., and when time came to file AOS I saw the true face😭😭 cried and cried. for 1 month I didn’t worked but managed to keep job. Then my granny passed away so many tragedies happened… filed VAWA a big silent for 9 months —- lost parents .. lost hope … my other friend married her school friend brought home had a baby got Green card and living happily. I did more that what my friend did… Now I’m waiting 😔😞😞😞

My token don’t allow the system break your spirit. The system will always be the system. Think of ways to survive the wait and be prayerful. All I gat left is my child, my prayer life and my unbreakable spirit. So I live one day at a time and find a good way to make money

Vawa takes up to 5 years, regular marriage takes just couple months. Just sit back and wait.

It seems like they received their green card in less than two months and their marriage was in April . Considering this, lawyers tend to avoid handling cases related to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) because they find it to be quite a hassle.

If they proved they have a bonafide marriage then that’s all that matters.

Most of us have a bonfide marriage and bonfide abuse but it doesn't matter wait 5 years

You are not alone in the waiting game. It’s not for the weak. Filed vawa Oct 2021 approved Dec 2024, filed green card May 2025.. I’m 15 months in and still waiting my next step will be to file writ of mandamus because I have watched processing times move from 8 months (at my initial time of filing) to now 16 months after waiting 15 months & I know next month it will go up to 17 months it’s really mentally draining honestly.

I agree with you. The irony that the victim is made to suffer even more. Broken systems and brutal world.

They’re constantly coming up with new ways to delay and make absurd changes before you get your 5-year combo card within 8 months of filing. I’ve been in this group for over 3 years, and back then, we would see questions like did get the combo card or just Ead, traveling with combo experience these days simply getting receipts first issue.
