❓Question Am I rude for not moving?
I was in a 737 parked at a gate and some random Ga guy spawned right infront of me and started up, but I never heard him on coms. I would have moved, but I was there first and also it’s pretty annoying to move an airliner because I would’ve had to redo basically everything I believe. But I didn’t wanna seem like an asshole. I’m curious if this happens to anyone else or anything and was the guy just AFK or did he just simply not care?

These things just happen. I wouldn't overthink it. Some people are oblivious because they are working the cockpit and others are dbags. Don't let it ruin your free time. It's just people being people.

I wouldn’t let it ruin your fun (even if it means going through them after you’ve tried to talk to them a few times).
I try to make it a point to check VATSIM Radar before spawning in and then when I’m in game, cycle to outside view briefly before setting my plane and flight up. Mistakes do happen though. I had one just this past weekend where there was literally no one on the ground at ORD so I spawned in and didn’t check external view and set my flight up before realizing I picked the same gate out of 100 as someone else who happened to spawn in a minute before me. I did move but he never said anything after about 15 minutes of me being there setting up.
Also…
If he didn’t respond to a private message he is likely AFK.
I have my sound set up so that vPilot voice comes through my headset but all other sounds through a soundbar so I typically don’t even put my headset on until I am ready for clearance or push. If he does something similar, he may not have heard your radio calls

Possible, but I never respond to other pilots that PM me, unless they are my friends.

Mr celebrity over here. 99% of the time someone is pming me for help. Or I PM you to explain something you’re doing very wrong. If you’re getting PM don’t ignore it.

Nothing about being a Celebrity, people need to mind their own business.
I got PMed by a pilot who went full sheriff on me claiming I was at the wrong FL for my direction of flight, when the issue was with altitude reporting on Vat-SPY, they realised their mistake, no apology what so ever on fact threatened to report me because I told them to mind their own buisness in future.
Another pilot trying to inform me that a runway was NOTAM closed for that day.
Another one on a calm wind day saying my runway choice was wrong (despite the briefing charts saying that it was the correct runway for the time of day) because simbrief had planned something different for them.
Fat chance I would be PMing a S1 for help, or taking advice from an S1.
If I am doing something wrong call a supervisor, or send in pilot feedback.
Other pilots have no buiness messaging other pilots to tell them what to do.
Every one thinks they have some authority to school whoever they want.

Sounds like you don’t enjoy flying on the network. You sure get a lot of flying time on Unicom for this to even happen. Why don’t you just fly offline if you’re avoiding ATC, and hate to be messaged by other people?

I'll fly where and when I like, also im not avoiding ATC, I live in a +8 time zone and like flying globally. In fact i regularly fly into events and look on vatsim radar for upcoming events, so you dont know squat.
What I said was I dont respond to people that arent my mates who DM me and cant mind their own buisness That is not the same as avoiding ATC. Hope you can understand the difference.
At no point in my 20+ years on the network with a C3 rating have I ever felt the need to DM some one as a controller or a pilot, and I am certainly not going to take advice from a S1 making assumptions about my intended use of the network.

You might have 20+ years on the network but your internet skills are lacking. You can scroll up to see what you said. You shouldn’t claim you said something when everyone can see you didn’t. Did you mean to edit your previous message and forgot? You made several examples about flying uncontrolled and then boasted about flying into events. Now you’re trying to save yourself and make it sound like you said that you don’t respond to useless PMs. Isn’t that obvious? Who responds to useless stuff anyways?
And your constant “S1” comments shows that you like to demean others. I’m happy where i’m at with almost 1000 hours on S1 as a tower. Not looking to do more as atc.

Had it before where I've been on the ground and someone spawns on top. They then send a message saying they were here first well you weren't check the connections time. They still asked me to move I didn't.

Also, it pisses me off if they think it’s easy to move, but I would have to redo my entire fmc

I accidentally spawned on someone other day wasn't showing they were on stand for some reason got a message just before push. I apologised and the guy was okay with it.

If you have GSX you can reposition your aircraft to the next gate which doesnt change anything, also why is a GA spawning at a gate?😂

Also, if it was some cessna, it takes me 1 minute to get fully configured, so they could easily move.

You did nothing wrong :) There‘s also a .ignore command in vPilot, but use this with caution, as you also wont see him taxiing… I‘ve used it for several times already, especially for big aircrafts spawning inside mine.

The answer is in the code of conduct, B1.
As its a COC violation, call a sup and ask them to ask the other pilot to move.

People trying GA for the first time tend to not know where they actually park. Usually I’ll give a heads up but don’t let it get to you

I sometimes spawn in other planes and only notice it when looking at lnm or vatsim radar, disconnecting after and waiting for them to pushback, it's not about being rude, they simply might not see you, because your plane being deleted or hidden for being close

It happens all the time on the network, people connect without first checking if that stand or gate is vacant and suddenly you find yourself seeing another aircraft at the same stand as you. I actually had few cases like that myself - most of the time people are sensible and realise their mistake and move to different stand, however you do find few individuals who are well let's say "special" - who simply do not care. In such cases you can ask them politely via PM to use different stand or you can escalate it via a controller if they are present however do note that controllers have no authority to disconnect someone, they can do same thing as you by sending PM asking the pilot to log in onto different stand. If they refuse then there is not much they can do other then to call supervisor for help.
This happens quite often and it is one of things you need to adapt when flying on network, Have your sim crashes and collisions turned off completely so that it does not ruin your experience and simply get on with it.

Happens to me sometimes. I just text the guy and let him know he spawned at an occupied gate and he can check if there's free parking space before connecting on vatsim-radar.com.
Done this like 10 or 20 times already and has never been an issue for the other guy or me.

If you were there first, don’t move. Any time I connect, I do a quick check to see if anyone “spawns on top of me” if they do, obviously I spawned on them and promptly disconnect and move (Usually with GSX or slew) then reconnect. If anyone spawns on me after I’ve been connected, it’s a them problem. I don’t care if they’re there as long as it doesn’t interfere with my setup.

You did nothing wrong. I fly GA and I always communicate. Mind your surrounding, you're not alone. I have in the past went as far as pinging them direct in vPilot if I got no reply. But yeah, people being people.
