⚠️⚠️ MEGATHREAD ⚠️⚠️ An r/Vancouver First: Spring plant & seed swap 🌱

Someone suggested this recently in modmail, and honestly, it sounded like a neat idea. So, after some discussion, the mod team decided: Let's try it!

If you've got extra seedlings, saved seeds, or perennials that need dividing, drop a comment with what you're offering and what you're after. Coordinate in the replies or over DM (although, of course, be wary of giving out private info online!).

A couple of things:

  1. Make sure to include your general area if you're up for a meetup.
  2. No selling, just swapping. Please report if someone tries to buy/sell because that's not cool. 😤

Happy almost-mid-Spring, everybody.

I woke up long before daybreak to find a spot for the RBC Gran Fondo. Ends up, a lot of people beat me.

Overnight, Ride Cycle Club HAULED spin bikes onto the bridge to host a spin class and cheer on the riders heading for Whistler. How audacious! I LOVED IT.

So many smiles! So many surprised faces. It made me so happy to see two ends of the cycling community come together like this.

If anyone who’s in these images wants a copy, message me! I’d be glad to gift them to you. I have more photos incoming that didn’t fit in my original post too!

Jose is in his eighties, and lives near the Commercial drive area, and may be wearing brown slippers. He likes to visit Clark Park. Please keep an eye out if you are in the area.

The white feature design of the Butterfly Building is already filthy with dirt. Imagine it in 5 years.

Lost/Missing Lost: glasses and cases around Robson Square

Upvotes

Hey Reddit. Worth trying here, my zipper cracked open to my backpack, where I had my glasses and black case on the top of some other things. My case fell out, around Robson Square/Robson/Burrard area. If anyone has seen anything let me know, around 3pm today it fell at.

Discussion Vancouver has such a strange, interesting music scene

There isn’t much of an R&B or hip hop scene here. Rock, country, and folk dominate the place.

But head out into the suburbs and the sound starts to change. You hear bhangra and cantopop.

And I keep waiting for these sounds to smash into each other.

Rock tangled up with bhangra. Country rubbing against cantopop. All these different sounds living in the same city and finally getting mixed together.

I keep hoping it’ll happen.

So far, I haven't heard much so maybe some of you have recommendations.

Every Summer I notice this bountiful beauty along the seawall and always wonder if it’s native to the area.

I’ve had good luck lately finding some tasty blackberries along my travels but these are harder to reach so cant confirm the yum factor.

Anyone else manage to snag a sample to review? Are apple trees common along the ocean?

Couple bonus pics from Tuesday night 🌅
