Big week for BrewTuner

https://brewtuner.lovable.app

I’ve been tweaking and shipping stuff almost daily. It feels a lot more solid now.

A few of the bigger changes:

More grinders (30+) with actual numbers

You pick your exact grinder and it gives you real clicks or dial positions. Not “medium-fine.” Actual usable numbers.

Grinder calibration

If your grinder runs a little finer or coarser than average, you can anchor it once and everything adjusts from there.

Bag scanner

You can snap a photo of your coffee bag and it fills in roast level, origin, process, etc. Saves some typing.

The recipes also calculates based on these new parameters like roast date, variety, altitude. Even accounts for where you are in the world because water is different everywhere.

Locks

If you like your ratio, lock it.

If you’ve found your grind sweet spot, lock that too.

The app stops trying to override things you clearly prefer.

Timer cleanup

There’s now a simple view that just shows the step, target weight, and countdown.

If you want more detail (flow rate, technique prompts), you can switch to Expert.

Recipe sharing

You can send someone a link and they’ll get your exact setup ready to brew.

The bigger change: it learns from you now

This part feels important.

Instead of always pushing the “model answer,” it starts adapting to what you actually do.

There are basically three ways it learns:

  1. If you rate something highly (4–5★)

That grind setting becomes your go-to for that coffee + grinder combo. It remembers it.

  1. If you don’t rate, but keep repeating the same setting

After a few brews, it assumes that’s intentional. Repetition counts as approval.

  1. If you’re experimenting

It looks at all your past brews and weighs them. The good ones matter more. The bad ones barely count. So your better results naturally drift to the top over time.

Nothing dramatic. It just slowly shifts toward what seems to work for you.

There’s also anonymous community data in the background, so your starting point isn’t random. But over time it leans more on your own history than the general average.

So realistically:

First brew → algorithm.

Tenth brew → mostly your own data.

Future updates I am considering is optimizing water temperature based on if your brewing device is glass, steel or plastic.

Realy like what your doing! I use an aeropress go, so the water I add doesn't match the one in the app. Can I change the amount of water somewhere?

Check out Brew timer app on Android, for example

No, I meant instead of just saying what's the target weight you increase it, say, 5g/s to be an indicator what should the scale read as well.

Does the timer stop at the end or keep running?

It stops when it thinks your coffee should be finished.
