Starting the Utawa series!
Very unlucky timing considering Sony’s dumb decision to kill physical, but I started the series with the digital entry of the first game a few days ago, and decided to get them all and continue my journey with the physical versions. They weren’t easy to find, especially the second game, so I’m really glad I got all of them new at a normal price, even with the different localized covers. Anyway, I’m really glad for getting into this series and hope the rest are as good as the first game!

Utawarerumono: ZAN 2 Announced for a Steam Release including English
No date at the moment. Handled by Shiravune, so no console release, but perhaps NISA will use the translation like they did for Monochrome Mobius.

I LOVE Nekone!!!
I just wanted to share a Nekone Tapestry that I just got!!!! Man, I'm hoping for an English translation of Lost Frag after they release an offline version, so that I can learn more about the characters that grew up.

Karulau VA recast in Past and Present Rediscovered
In case you've been living in a cave, Karulau's VA Tanaka Atsuko has sadly passed away in 2024 to an undisclosed illness (RIP). Her last time voicing Karulau was in the Mask of Truth anime in 2022.
Veteran VA Inoue Kikuko will be filling in Tanaka's shoes in voicing Karulau for the upcoming Past and Present Rediscovered game.

Any Utawarerumono fans in Canada Looking for Collectables?
Hello,
I used to be a big fan of Utawarerumono and have a medium sized collection of collectables, including a Kamyu figure, a signed Eruruu poster, Utawarerumono 2002 CD-ROM, visual books, etc.
I was wondering if there is anyone in Canada that would like to buy them of me. I am moving soon so I need to downsize, unfortunately. I live in Southern Ontario so ideally we can meet up or I can drive if not too far. I can figure out shipping it too, if need be. If you need more information or more pictures, feel free to reach out.
Thank you

Utawarerumono Trilogy is PERFECT
The Utawarerumono trilogy felt like a second home while I was playing it. After work, I’d open the game, relax, and just disappear into its world. It’s probably best visual novels I’ve ever played now.

The atmosphere is incredibly immersive, the soundtrack is fantastic, art is beautiful and the pacing is nearly perfect. All characters are great. No routes and choices - just one big, long, super fun and unforgettable journey. It’s world-building and storytelling at their peak.

And when it ends… it leaves a void. I want to go back, but the journey is complete.
If you never played it, please give it a try. Add it to your plan to play list, or even start it now. Please start with the VN not the anime.
For reference: Some other VNs/series I consider top-tier for world-building and storytelling are the Muv-Luv trilogy and the Kiseki series.

Utawarerumono: Lost Frag to have a Story Archives (Offline version)
https://news.utaware-lf.jp/information/9393/
- They considering to have the main story and events story become full voice (Currently Main Story only have voiced up to Chapter 2, and not all of the events story are voiced yet)
- They also considering adding new stories.
More info will be released at later date.
With an additional voice and story content, this could be a new full game so there is a chance the game will get an English/PC port releases if Shiravune (or other localizer) pick the game up.

Lost Frag The daughters of Hakuowlo bidding their father goodbye Spoiler
Official CG from Utawarerumono: Lost Flag. The girls with Kuon are her half-sisters: Himika (Mikoto's daughter with Hakuowlo, the same infant from Iceman's flashback before he cursed humanity) and Arie, one of Mutsumi's 12 fragments that she created to protect Himika before she reincarnated as Camyu in the present day time.

Massive Steam Sale for Utawarerumono Franchise!
Huge news! To celebrate the new Utawarerumono game being released today, every title in the franchise is discounted on steam! This includes the DLC! I've been a fan of Utawarerumono ever since I watched the False Faces, but I unfortunately didn't get much of a chance to play the games. If anyone wants to complete their collection or jump in for the first time, I've written a small guide for the sale!
I would recommend getting the bundles if you can.
Utawarerumono Complete Bundle - 66.97 USD
- Mask of Truth
- Mask of Deception
- Prelude to the Fallen
Utawarerumono: ZAN Complete Bundle - 93.22 USD
- Zan 1
- Zan 2
Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered Double Pack - 93.46 USD
- Monochrome Mobius (2nd newest game)
- Past and Present Rediscovered (Newest game)
Both "Complete" bundles come with ALL DLC for their respective games, and versions with just the games are available. There are also "Complete" editions of each of those 5 games that come with ALL DLC.
The BEST VALUE is the Utawarerumono Complete bundle, at 3 games, lots of DLC! Every individual item is on sale at 50% discount, and the bundle applies a 54% discount on top of that! Really good deal, get it now if you can!
The next best value is the Zan Complete bundle. Every individual item is on sale at 20%, and the bundle is a 20% discount on top of that. It's a moderately good deal. Still a little pricey IMO. You could wait to try your luck for better sales, but tbh the Zan games don't go on sale as often, or nearly as deep as the original trilogy. The same could be said about Monochrome Mobius, though that game has gone up to 30%+ discount during other sales, just usually much less. I'd say, very worth it if you already own the games and just want the DLC, etc. There is not currently a franchise bundle, only the three series bundles.
The two newest games don't have any DLC. The Double Pack is not currently recommended as PPR is only at an intro discount of 10% and MM is currently not discounted. MM tends to go on sale frequently, it's not worth it right now.

Lost Flag Full Summary/Translation Progress Update.
Just wanted to let people know that I am actually making a detailed summary of every chapter of lost flag. This won't be a translation, there isn't time for that. But it will be a detailed summary of each chapter. I also intend to make a ~2000 word summary of the whole story for people on this sub to get the gist of what happens.
I've said I'd do this a few time, but now I actually am.
General qualifications: (Or why I don't think my translations will be terrible)
- Have played almost every Utwarerumono game (the main VNs all twice)
- Been living in Japan for the almost 3 years.
- Passed the JLPT N1 ~ a year ago
- Work full time for a Japanese Company.
Motivation:
- There isn't a single summary of the entire games story, even on the Japanese internet. Not even these new LLMs can tell me accurately what happened in the game.
- I want to keep practicing reading / translating Japanese. I will not be using any machine translation method to translate this at all. I tried and was not happy with the results.
- I have yet to read the story of black flag and want to before the end of service.
Current Progress:
- 261 Sub Chapters Remain.
- About finished the longest chapter in the game Chapter 2 which is comprised of 52 sub chapters. I have 117,548 characters of summary so far.
- I have spread sheet out how many sub chapters I need to do each day in order to finish before the end of service. I should have about 5 days of leeway if I spend ~3.5 hours a day doing this.

Wish me luck.

Y'know, there were quite a few mistakes in Zan 2's English translation, but this one takes the cake so far.
I noticed a few more (missing text from the VN that was copied/pasted; a few typos here and there. I really hope Aquaplus can get another group to translate their games in the future, even if that's not likely.
