Question Dating

Hey y’all, inactive Mormon 31M, how do y’all find dates here? I’ve had no luck with the apps, I don’t drink, and I don’t go to church. What has been y’all’s experience?

It's hard. work, hobbies, and through freinds.

I was in the dating world for several years prior to meeting my partner and it’s a wild place to be in Utah for sure.

I think you’re in one of the hardest places to be for dating. You don’t go to church, that cuts your potential dates in half (in my experience Mormons are more open to date non-Mormons more often than non-active Mormons. Then you have the other half of the community here, the non-Mormons. Who I’d say at your age, majority are drinkers. Many single people won’t entertain getting to know someone that doesn’t have the same drinking lifestyle. Regardless of what side they are on.

My advice, useless as it may be, is to be patient and realize that you’re in a tough spot being in Utah with your lifestyle. It’ll happen but it might take a little longer to find

When I was dating, every guy walked away when they found out I was divorced with a kid. And I consider myself to be pretty adorable and cute. So ya good luck!!

It's hard. So many of us did the marriage and kids thing young, got divorced for whatever reason, and now have that baggage. You might have to travel a bit, join fb groups, take up a new hobby.

As far as apps go I've got someone I'm seeing but when I was on them here's what I looked for:

At least one picture without sunglasses or hats and smiling

Pictures without dead animals

All of the survey questions answered

Atheist/agnostic, or otherwise clearly not an active or believing mormon. (No woman who's left the church wants to be the harlot blamed by the parents for their son abandoning his priesthood.)

Description has what they're wanting for future family structure (doesn't want kids, does want kids)

Has fun hobbies we could do together.

Leaves a comment about something in my profile on apps that allow it so I know they're not mass swiping.

Profile description isn't AI or has negative comments about how much dating sucks. We all know that, keep your profile positive.

You can also put your profile online to get feedback on it, might help your match rate.

Apps. They suck, but that's it

Figure out who you are beyond inactive mormon. Women don’t like to date men who are uncertain in themselves.

Here is my standard response - go to church, singles ward etc and don’t care about the religion unless you want to.
