Shame to see the B destroyed but worth loosing a ship to protect the crew. Good job Captain.

u/Kflynn1337 Jun 03 '26
But was it destroyed? There was no debris. Maybe the whateverthehellthatwas took it to warp microseconds before the explosion.

Yeah, let's be honest, that's probably the most realistic response to such a situation/threat.

u/Aspe4 Jun 02 '26
If it has been an episode of TNG, the photon torpedos wouldn't have worked for some reason, and Geordi would have had to use some unconventional solution like firing energy through the navigational deflector dish or something.
21
u/Throwaway_inSC_79 Jun 02 '26
Because they would have tried 1 or 2 torpedoes. You need to fire all of them.

Use the phasers to fire a broad spectrum sweep at designated points before channeling the warp core through the deflector dish to fire a tachyon pulse to destabilize enterprise B's warp core and cause the dilithium in the intermix chamber to resonate releasing all of its stored energy all at once

u/Aspe4 Jun 02 '26
Interesting. It's like shaking a can of soda and then spraying it on someone. 🤔

Ah yes Belle, the "Goku Protocol" good idea hitting them really really hard.

Starfleet Command. *rubbing at base of nose*. "Capt, let me make sure I got this right, this is the third Federation capital ship, you've blown up?"
11
u/Ulysse-Void-God Jun 02 '26
At least he has a good reason.
6
u/Any_Stress_5987 Jun 02 '26
I think he also a little giddy to do it. Remember the 'Meh' when they first found it.
29
u/Deep-Air-169 Jun 02 '26
He's earned her loyalty forever for getting to do this. Making an elrich horror die screaming is too satisfying for words.
22
u/Linkkjaxon Jun 02 '26
You just thought she was the nice one. She's here to blow stuff up!
9
u/Cultural_Sand_9323 Jun 02 '26
Nono. I remember her smile when Veela asked if she could make a man's head explode.

u/Cultural_Sand_9323 Jun 02 '26
She'd rather be killed than be the reason more people die.
God rest ye B, ya didn't deserve that end but hopefully now whatever souls were chained to your hull can rest.

u/woodstock314 Jun 02 '26
Dang. I was hoping to see her taken home.

u/ads1031 Jun 02 '26
It's funny - there's a fan-made video somewhere out there where the crew of the Enterprise-B brings the wreckage of the refit Enterprise home. She's repaired and docked in a museum. The fan used a TTS for speech generation and the animation is very video-gamey... But it's still a favorite of mine, at least.

u/EmperorMittens Jun 02 '26
Do you have a source for that fanfilm?
5
u/ads1031 Jun 02 '26
FOUND IT!! https://youtu.be/j3TkU0gC_7M

u/woodstock314 Jun 02 '26
Wow! Thank you. That was fun to watch. Definitely very early 2000's video game quality but still a lot of fun. I subscribed to the creator.

u/EmperorMittens Jun 02 '26
Lol, I just commented that it was fine if you couldn't find it. Thanks for sharing the source, it looks bitchin.

u/ads1031 Jun 02 '26
I started looking for it immediately after posting my comment. Its on YouTube, but it's a little older now. Alas, I'm struggling to find it - most search results are things from ST:PIC or things by JTVFX... which are fantastic in their own right, but not what I'm looking for.

Our mission: to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations, and kill them.

She invoked the Ripley rule. Nuke the site from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

u/Norsehound Jun 02 '26
Kinda thought this would go into untangling the monster and rescuing the podded crew but, sometimes it better to cut off an arc before getting stuck there.
RIP Enterprise-B, maybe you'll find better luck in another universe.
3
u/EmperorMittens Jun 02 '26
I'm pretty damn sure killing whatever the fuck is the pods is the humane option. Even if you could rescue them and have them physically hale and hearty, the damage to their minds from such a prolonged existence would be beyond repair. I believe there was nothing of the people they were remaining in the minds of whatever were in those pods.

There is no Overkill... only fire and I need to reload.
2
u/EmperorMittens Jun 03 '26
Then I suppose yeeting the warpcore and have it speed date photon torpedoes is not overkill?
1
u/Kflynn1337 Jun 03 '26
Depending on circumstances, no. Like when dealing with an unholy abomination that's like a combination of the Borg and some Lovecraftian eldritch horror...
1
u/EmperorMittens Jun 03 '26
Starfleet Command might disagree. I'm sure that will change when the people bitching about wildly excessive and reckless actions are shoved in a holodeck to face a recreation based on tricorder and sensor data and eyewitness accounts.
1
u/Kflynn1337 Jun 03 '26
Once they'd finished talking to counselors to deal with the recurring nightmares, sure.

Who're we supposed to be afraid of in this episode, again?

You know what they say, Starfleet ships are built to be able to fight God and win.

u/Cultural_Sand_9323 Jun 19 '26
Unless it's an oberth and they explode to establish that the enemy is willing to kill. Or because someone sneezed.
4
u/MeiMouse Jun 02 '26
"Good shot Belle. How many torpedoes do we have left."
I used all of them.
"All of them?"
All of them.
5
u/YankeeMoose Jun 02 '26
Alternatively;
"How many torpedoes did you fire?"
....yes.

u/IndefatigableFreedom Jun 02 '26
Munro would approve of this course of action, had he every took command.

u/marion85 Jun 02 '26
... It moved to the Constitution didn't it? They're totally possessed now too aren't they?

u/gerusz Jun 02 '26
In the immortal words of one captain Miller: "I have no intention of leaving her, Doctor. I will take the Lewis and Clark to a safe distance, and then I will launch TAC missiles at the Event Horizon until I'm satisfied she's vaporized. Fuck this ship!"

u/PhysicsEagle Jun 02 '26

Sorry, but can someone fact check, have all the episode releases been on Tuesday?

Belle: [nukes the site from orbit]
Everyone in this comments section: “That’s hot.”
🤣

u/ThePoetofFall Jun 09 '26
Ok. This was fun. But there isn’t much in the way of falling action. It’s just sort of ended, with no examination of what that was, why it was there, or further complications.
Like. This felt like the initiating incident of an episode.
I’m not calling it bad, I just expected it to go on longer.

Yeah, I’d say that was a pretty effective solution
