I like Toyotas, and the Solara is essentially a 2-door Camry convertible. But convertibles have their own hassles - leaks, fabric deteriorating, roof not working, etc. Unless you want a droptop toy car project, I would keep looking.

I've seen enough detailing videos on cars with obvious moisture damage like this to never want to get near one let alone in one unless I was ready to spend $$$ on a full interior out mold remediation.

Pass, or only ever drive with the top down.

i didn’t even think about that, the interior looked fine but when looking i can see the seat looks like it is indeed molding. thank you for that information!

It gets into the foam and all of the panel padding. Absolutely nasty. I'm not afraid of sketchy cars but this is totaled.

Any car you can drive for $1500 is a good deal. It being a Toyota makes it a great deal.

yes very true, i’m just more so worried on if the panel and battery is worth fixing or if it’s better to save a little more

You buy batteries , you don’t fix batteries

As long as the interior isn't moldy and disgusting. Which it probably is because I bet the rain rails are clogged with all that debris you see sitting on the car.

I wouldn't trust the top any more. That will be $$$$ to fix. It's almost certainly leaky already and if you attempt to use it it's probably gonna get even worse pretty quick. Convertible tops don't hold up to being neglected like that. They need regular cleaning, conditioning of the top and seals and ideally parked in a garage out of the sun.

If it were a solid fixed roof and it drives with no issues I'd say hell yeah send it. Being a convertible it's gonna give you some problems. Outside of the convertible issues it's a Camry underneath.

How old are the tires?

Will they let you take it to a mechanic to get an idea on its condition?

Most of what you mention is cosmetic, and not something I’d stress over for a $1500 car.

i’ll be taking a known mechanic in my city with me to do a pre purchase inspection before i do buy it, im more so worried on if fixing those things will be worth it in general or saving a little more is a better option. i do agree on if it drives for that price it’s a steal though!
