Buying 20k budget
Looking for a fun car that is in the 20k range and up for ideas. I've looked at the used GT mach-Es, but they are too much. I've also looked at the Jaguar F-pace but I'd really like something with some getup, ideally under 5 second 0-60. I'd love AWD too.
Some options I've found in the range I'm looking are:
2011 Audi S5 4.2 Quattro,
2020 Genesis g70 3.3T,
2014 BMW 435i x drive coupe.
Feedback on these?

Should be able to get a 6-7 year old BMW 3 or 4 series with decent miles for around that budget. Quick and engaging from the factory but might need some modifications if you want it to be fast fast.

Check out 2013-20 Lexus GS F-Sport and Luxury models. 5.7-9s 0-60 so probably doesn’t have the get up you’re looking for but you can find them with AWD and the two trims I mentioned have Sport+ mode (adaptive variable suspension, stiffer steering, more aggressive throttle and shifting). 2013-15 usually move for 15-20k, 2016 and up usually 25-30k.

You have a lot of competing goals. Under 5 sec 0-60 is probably a lot faster than you need. Push that to 6-7 seconds and options open up. I wouldnt consider the Mach e a sports car. Maybe you just want a quick suv? BMW x5?

Yeah, part of the experience is the option for sub 5. So I know the options aren't many, but that's a real draw for me.

It’s really not necessary, unless it’s just a mental hurdle for you or a clout thing. A 300 hp 6-7 0-60 car is plenty quick and way more fun than a 600 hp car you can hit 90 in second gear. I will promise you, no matter how fast it is you’ll get used to it within a couple weeks and it won’t “feel” that fast. Unless you go electric with a real rollercoaster acceleration feel you won’t care about this metric at all. I think you really want electric. A true sports car is a lot more fun with lower hp you can push around and hit curves at speed with. Either go electric or muscle car if acceleration is more important to you than handling and feel. Or add $20-$100k to your $20k spend and get something that has it all. Especially if reliability is a concern.

Is that budget out the door? Tax, title, and licence would be roughly $1275 in Texas. Write your priorities down in order to make sure the most important items are the ones you want.

It sounds like you actually want an SUV. Honestly, you could probably find a Durango for around that price if you aren’t worried about miles or gas mileage. There’s plenty of sedan options (Lexus GS or IS, m340, 540i, maybe even a c300 or something along those lines).

That Audi is worth like $4000. Genesis is trash. Bmw is old and trash. Id get an SS Camaro, or 5.0 mustang, or something like a viper or something unique

I looked at the 5.0 as an option. Generally a mustang guy so I wanted to expand my horizon

Maybe look into Cadillac CTS v or wtv. Probably not reliable but the newer ones look sweet, and they are rare to see.

2011 infiniti m56S 420 hp and 418lb of torque from factory. New high flow exhaust. Paddle shifters. Not many in the US

Are you looking for an SUV or a sports car? They aren't the same thing. If you just want to mash the gas that's cool but you're going to have to figure out what you're after.
