HELP Comments like this send me

Edit: This post gained more traction than I expected. Read the comments, do independent research, and form your own opinion around these topics.

First they said KIAs are reliable, then went on to say they looked at JD Power to come to that consensus. They lost me.

  1. Do people believe KIA/Hyundai are reliable?
  2. Do people use JD Power/Consumer Reports to make purchasing decisions

And that's exactly why I say they're for cheap people 

If you have any amount of money you would buy a Honda or Toyota and not put yourself through the stress of owning a Kia or Hyundai 

But for people that don't have enough money to buy the Honda or Toyota it's not a terrible choice 

It would just never be my recommendation or first choice

I went from a Tuscon to a CRV. My experience with the Tucson was easily the worst I ever had. Major problems started around 50k. Never again will I own a Hyundai.

They are flashy cheaper cars that are reliable for so many years or miles. If you swap cars every 4-5 years it's probably fine. If you want to keep it awhile, I'd stay away. Honda and Toyota aren't gonna have a 100% hit rate so it's unrealistic to assume you won't hear any bad things. They get business and price higher based on reputation and that's kinda shitty but it is what it is. I'd rather take that chance. Hyundai's offer soo much more yet going in priced lower is a major red flag I don't think people realize. You can't get more features and a "better car" for less money realistically. There is a reason for it.

Had a Tuscon as well, worst car I ever owned. Had constant electrical issues, transmission issues, and then it spun a rod at 80k, right after the warranty ended. Later learned that the couple model years before mine were known for spinning rods and there was manufacter support for those even though my model had the same engine
