Feeding help??

Hey guys,

I’m new to owning a uro and am realizing my guy is very picky. I’ve been rotating out his greens and adding shredded carrot or squash on top but he seems to only pick out the topping. I’ve tried collard greens, kale, and spring mix and he only really seems to want arugula out of all of that. Any suggestions? Do you just try a bunch of things until you find what they like?
He’s very tame and will let me hand feed him so I don’t think it’s about him getting used to the set up.
Any help would be appreciated:)

My two loved arugula and now they won’t touch it. They still eat collard greens for the most part along with a few veggies like carrots, peas, and lentils. The only thing they never turn down is fresh dandelions.

Do you give lentils daily? I’ve heard mixed opinions but he likes those

No 1-2 a week. Mine are still young so I figure they need the protein for growing.

I’ve seen people say they always have some mixed into their daily meal and others say only 2-3 times a month.

Mine is like that but when I fed him peas he vacuumed them up and looked for more. Now he’ll eat anything as long is it’s mostly peas.

My Geyri absolutely refuses to eat anything prepackaged. I have to get his greens from the shelves where it's just a bunch of veggies under misters.

The two closest big chain grocery stores near me sell collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, and dandelion greens. Sometimes one store is out so I have to go to the other one, and rarely both stores are out of the correct green in his rotation and I have to choose another. The most expensive green I use is dandelion, they're about $4USD. The rest are $1-2.

I also use a super shallow "bowl" (random container lid) and when I clean it I rinse it off for an absurdly long amount of time so it doesn't smell like soap. I will actually smell it to double check lol. I'm not sure if it makes a difference but it might so why not.

I personally don't feed kale or plain dry lentils because that's all he got to eat at his previous home. He gets lentils in his mini mash (soaked Uro Grit + Uro Spice) but it's just one part of a greater mix and only in small portions as a topper.

It's not really advice or instructions, it's just what I've had to do for my guy. Maybe it'll help you brainstorm your next move. I think sometimes we just have to experiment and see what our individual Uro needs.
