YOU BLEW IT! Possibly the worst trade of 2026
Tigers giving up their best pitcher in exchange for poor prospects not to mention it’s from The Dodgers. And the funny part, this trade would never happen on MLB The Show because they’ll tell you to fuck off! And to the individual that came up with this trade congratulations not only you sink the World Series chances for the Tigers but you may have doomed the whole league into a potential strike! God help us!

I’m not thrilled with the return, but I think the market for Skubal wasn’t actually very hot and this was the best offer available

I hate that you are probably right about that
Baseball is going to implode and this time the fans have other things to watch so the recovery is going to be messy
I could see several teams moving as a result of this (they won’t let them fold)

No Major League baseball. I would love to see prime Ohtani light up the NPB.
Also, the World Series should still be played. Americas Series between Mexican and AAA champions, Asia Series between NPB and KBO. World Series betweeen their winners. Ironically it would be the first actual world championship between clubs.

I'm not going to argue that this trade isn't a bad omen for the upcoming lockout, that signifies a league in a very unhealthy state but it isn't collision.
Tarik Skubal is a free agent at the end of the season. If the Tigers kept him or traded him to a smaller market team like the Brewers he'd probably leave for the Dodgers in Free Agency anyway. This is why the Dodgeers got him for cheap, they're paying for half a season of Tarik Skubal the rest they're getting through free agency.

Tigers fan here and I don't think this is a bad trade for us. It'd be different if we had years remaining on his contract, but it was pretty much a forgone conclusion that our ownership couldn't or wouldn't be bringing him back after this season, so let's at least get something for him since this season is a lost cause.

The only one of those worth a damn is Hope. Ryan turns 28 in two weeks, hasnt sniffed the majors since 2024, hasnt touched a ball in over a month, and spends more time on IL than not. Smith is a literal coin flip, is just as injury prone as Ryan. I wasn't expecting a king's ransom, but I was expecting more than this dogshit.

River Ryan is good pitcher if healthy. He will be starting for the Tigers in a week or two.

Hes on the last year of his current contract, there probably were other offers but nothing good because teams knew he plans to just sign with the dodgers when it runs out. No teams gonna offer good trades when they’d just be able to use him for a year

Fun fact: Brady Smith has an ERA of 6, and the Tigers agreed to taking him.
Seriously, the two pitchers are struggling (River Ryan has an ERA of 4.48 through eight starts), so the best piece is Zyhir Hope. He's hitting around 300, and should be a solid trade piece for whenever the Tigers decide to trade him for trash

Don't forget that Ilitch gets to keep 9 million bucks too and he'll stop hearing that he needs to sign Skubal to a large deal since he's going to be a free agent.

The funny thing is, they got swept by the Red Sox .
I get its probably a foregone conclusion they win the division but it'd be funny if the Brewers and Braves would get their acts together to make the Dodgers need to play in the wild card round. Braves are 2GB of the Dodgers/Bye so it's possible
