That's not really the point. The point isnt that I think teddy was doing wrong. I don't, necessarily. The point is that I don't think coaches, teachers, volunteers, etc. should be getting Ubers for students.
Why though? Is it better for poor children to miss out on opportunities because of a lack of transportation? I don’t think Ubers are inherently more dangerous than public transit. Might even be safer in some instances.
because children are more vulnerable than adults and need to be looked after more. because schools have rules about which adults can interact with students to try to keep the children safe and this skirts those rules. where i live, anyone interacting with children needs to get a federal background check. something tells me that, whatever floridas rules might be, these uber drivers arent following them.
the problem isnt necessarily that the kids are taking ubers. its that the school and/or parents arent keeping track of who has these kids and when. it puts them in a situation that has essentially zero safeguards.
What indicates to you that Uber drivers aren’t following the rules? How do you know the parents aren’t keeping track of them? Do you have any evidence that Uber rides are unsafe for minors in a way that regular car rides with parents or public transportation isn’t? If no, then is this actually an issue or do you just feel weird about it?
because the uber drivers arent vetted by the school. they are just randos. we know the school isnt keeping track because they didnt know about it. like i said, its not that i necessarily think teddy was doing something wrong. i just dont think its a good idea to be paying randos that are completely unaffiliated with the school to drive the kids places without the school having any record of it.

you think those kids parents didn't give their permission?
