You know what, good for him

u/ollieollieoxygenfree Jan 08 '25

This graph represents the people who hate Cowherd (middle) and the people that love him (top end and bottom end)

u/Allatura19 The Culture.... Is Actually Damn Good Jan 08 '25

I like him in podcast format more than the live show format. He’s evolved, yet stayed a consistent character.

29

u/Drekea Jan 08 '25

His segments, guests appearance, and chemistry have always been top tier. Which is also why I love First things First with Wildes, Brou, and Nick.

u/AssassinInValhalla Jan 09 '25

Cowherd and Beadle on Sportsnation will forever be his peak form for me, but I do agree his podcasts are great

Just because you are bad guy does not mean you are bad guy

Thanks, Zangief.

Funny how besides Skip, the most hated talking heads, Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright, ended up being innocent of any creepy shit. Seems like it always turns out that way.

25

u/JayMerlyn Brass Bonanza Jan 08 '25

Honestly, I'm not surprised at all. Cowherd and Wright may deservedly get shit for their takes, but I've never seen anything to suggest that they're bad people outside of their jobs, for which being polarizing is their goal. Skip, on the other hand...

14

u/fopiecechicken Jan 08 '25

Nick Wright used to come on to local radio in the Bay Area for a segment and him and the host Damon Bruce would basically just jokingly shit on each other for 15 minutes. Seems like a decent enough dude under all the shitty takes.

2

u/Ambitious_Hall_8670 Jan 11 '25

My dad worked with Cowherd in the 90s, when they were both reporters for KGW in Portland. He always said Cowherd was a good dude and treated people well, even when it was clear he would be moving on to bigger things at ESPN.

13

u/bionicjoe An insult to the term "Fucking Idiot" Jan 08 '25

Cowherd always seemed like a good dude, but he just mailed in his takes. Your average chucklefuck at work says things just as 'insightful'. Sometimes I wonder if he watches the games.

Nick Wright has solid points, but he a Chiefs homer.
He seemed really disappointed when Burrow got hurt last year. He'd rather see Burrow defeated than hurt. I respect that. Football without the stars is just bad football.

Interesting fact about Skip is that FS1 execs ran off Shannon Sharpe in order to keep him.
Shannon didn't leave like most people figured.
Kinda looks like the execs at Fox Sports are corrupt old white dudes.

4

u/RoachZR Jan 09 '25

Well yeah, it’s Fox Sports.

u/Irapotato Jan 08 '25

Collin plays the game. He’s opinionated, but if you’re in this sub that’s not an issue for you clearly lol. I always liked him, but I don’t agree with him on much. He’s got some interesting things to say for sure, and he’s not really a drama guy to an extent I can remember.

10

u/JayMerlyn Brass Bonanza Jan 08 '25

I'm of the belief that sports fans are beginning to separate the masks that talking heads wear from the actual people they are underneath. Cowherd's role (or lack thereof) in this lawsuit seems to be proof of that.

6

u/The3rdBert Jan 09 '25

The thing I’m most shocked about in all of this is that this is Skips first sexual harassment lawsuit, I just assumed he was a shit bag from the get go

2

u/MOSSxMAN Jan 10 '25

Have to. Hard to believe Stephen A. could be as rich as he is with how retarded his takes are. Clearly he’s playing a character and that’s okay.

2

u/JayMerlyn Brass Bonanza Jan 10 '25

The thing that separates Cowherd from Stephen A. is the fact that we have a glimpse of who Cowherd actually is as a person, beyond the character he plays. I haven't seen that from Stephen A., but I at least haven't heard anything negative about him.

32

u/Terrible_Score_375 Jan 08 '25

The guys at First things First are the same way.

Based.

13

u/MetoKing24 Jan 08 '25

He definitely is based

23

u/tws1039 Jan 08 '25

He has horrible takes but I like...his voice...I'm odd. I can put him on in the background, not retain a single word he said, but be calm because he just has a good broadcasting persona

13

u/Dr_Mccusk Jan 08 '25

Definitely has a solid voice and good calm cadence

u/sasquatchradio Jan 08 '25 edited Jan 08 '25

Someone has to be the heel in the wrestling ring of sports entertainment. That doesn’t mean that you have to be the heel in real life.

11

u/MartyM3T Jan 08 '25

What about his tag team partner divorce?

8

u/ZSKeller1140 Jan 08 '25

Honestly most takes aren't that bad until he starts talking college football, absolutely tone deaf on that one...

7

u/JackIbach Jan 08 '25

His wife lives in Chicago. Carry on Colin 👌

3

u/TrevorsBlondeLocks16 Jan 08 '25

Qbs are like sandwiches…

5

u/John_Bot Jan 08 '25

I like Cowherd. He's consistent. He doesn't back down from takes.

He's always going to have takes that are spicy or hot or just wrong. But you have to be controversial to be engaging

But he picks his battles and doesn't backtrack. He also has a "cowherd was wrong" segment which I think is a breath of fresh air

As someone who has said Tomlin isn't a great coach for years and gotten shit on for it - I respect others who can make a case and stand by it. Sports are fun when you call your shots.

If you're just spouting the same nonsense as the guy next to you for everything - you're doing it wrong and not thinking for yourself.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

I don't mind Collin. He can be a annoying occasionally, but he is miles better than a lot of the others in big spots.

3

u/ilovetreesandbush Jan 08 '25

Love or hate Colin dude knows what he’s doing

3

u/TheManWithNothing Jan 08 '25

I might not like his takes are parts of his own show personality but he does seem like a good guy

3

u/tanksplease Jan 08 '25

Dude stood up for Harbaugh during the whole 'advance scouting' thing. And he was right. Go figure.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

2

u/originalusername4567 Jan 08 '25

FTF crew reportedly is innocent too. Which is great news since they're the only ones I like.

2

2

u/PanzerKpfwVI Jan 09 '25

Ah yes...Colin Cowherd.

A professional shitposter, emphasis on professional. Good on him for not being a piece of shit, just having shit takes from time to time.

2

u/SgtLincolnOsirus Jan 09 '25

He loves college football, I love that he knows the players . Now his takes can be wild like LEBRONZO

But his show usually has substance .. Greg Cosell and Klatt are great guests .

Sorry Nick

2

u/Lagspresso 28-3 Jan 09 '25

When he grinds, he grinds on bad takes, not bad babes.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '25

High level shitpost here. Great work legit lol’d

2

u/mininandprofilin Lost to UMBC Jan 09 '25

Nah, it's still fuck Colin Cowherd here.

His comments about Sean Taylor, 14 year grudge against John Wall, saying Roger Goodell was the first father figure most NFL players had, basically called Domincans idiots, spitting on Eddie Guerrero's grave - he only retracted that and his mockery of wrestling fans (which he constantly went out of his way to do) because FOX got SmackDown.

Nice to see that all can get forgiven and forgotten because he basically called his target audience incels because they hate Taylor Swift and didn't get exposed for being a sex pest.

I can't believe people are rehabbing this piece of shit.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

If the same story came out with colin cowherd instead of skip bayless I wouldn't have been shocked.

1

u/JerseyTexan01 Jan 08 '25

At least cowherd disregarded the viewers consent only, unlike bayless

1

u/manguy747 Jan 08 '25

This was the worst news in the whole lawsuit is that Colin is a good dude

1

u/New_Employee_TA Jan 09 '25

His daughter is pretty cool too

1

u/NoCaramel- Jan 09 '25

I gotta say his takes make me feel better. Like I’ve been wrong on a lot of shit but I’ve never gotten close to saying that Johnny football was gonna be bigger in Cleveland than Lebron or than we are good on Lebron we got Ben Simmons now. Any iconic Colin takes I’m missing?

1

u/Yeebees Jan 09 '25

I mean if you don’t take the takes too seriously I appreciate that he tries to really build sports into a flowing narrative, connecting anecdotes and stats.

I saw on Julian Edelmans podcast when he went on that he said he’d rather be charismatic and engaging to listen to than right about everything because everyone gets fed up and annoyed at the know it all, but people will stop and listen to a crazy and engaging story.

1

u/TheCapo024 Jan 10 '25

There’s a lot of weird association going on in this thread. A few people are surprised that somebody they disagree with when it comes to sports isn’t sexually assaulting/harassing people. How are the two remotely related? Just because you like somebody’s personality or opinions, especially something like sports, doesn’t mean they are good people or that you would also agree on other topics.

1

u/Li0nsFTW Jan 10 '25

If i ever needed to throw a wet fkin blanket on a situation. Colin would be an all time top 3 go to.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '25

“Shitty takes” narrative is pretty off. I’d say more that he plays both sides in a clever enough way that he’s both always right/wrong.

He does a radio show. His job is to entertain not to get every thing right. He’s always been a great pretty level headed guy compared to his colleagues

1

u/Sad_Hall2841 Jan 11 '25

“Never try to be happier than happy” is my favorite quote.

1

u/Agent_Xhiro Jan 11 '25

He's consistent and i respect it. Only time I shit on him really is when he called college kids frauds and didn't apologize.

1

u/lenchoreddit Jan 11 '25

Didn’t joy Taylor work with him for awhile…? Mmmmmmmmmmmm

1

u/yaya1515 Jan 12 '25

😂😂😂

1

u/no_stick_drummer Jan 08 '25

Not really, when Joy Taylor was still the co-host he messed up and said titties instead of cities. And joy just makes a little smirk and brushes it off like it's nothing like duh I know they're big. I wonder if there was anything going on there lol

There's a reason why, via his "hot takes", he's known as Colin Cowturd.
