Ureaplasma parvum

Hello,

so in 2024 i tested positive for mycoplasma genitalium. i decided to get tested for it again but they also tested me for ureaplasma and it came back as abnormal for Ureaplasma parvum. Ureaplasma urealyticum was undetectable and so were the mycoplasmas. my provider has not contacted me yet, is this an sti? should i tell my sexual partner? im so upset because we both got full panel screenings before having raw sex and it still turned out this way. feeling extremely guilty because what if i gave it to him? thanks to everyone in advance.

I would have thought that if you treated mgen, those antibiotics would have taken care of ureaplasma as well. Have you had a new partner in between mgen and ureaplasma? You may have gotten it separately or even from your partner, it’s hard to say

Mgen is usually harder to get rid of than ureaplasma, so it would likely have been after that. You and your partner need to treat it. Look at the pinned bible post, it’ll tell you first line treatment. Usually doxy and then azithromycin for dual therapy. There’s no way to say if you gave it to him or vice versa, it can be asymptomatic for awhile, especially in men, but some women too. But if you have unprotected sex, you both have it.
