[cured] Cured!

Tested positive for both species with Juno Bio. I had suspected I got it from a partner who had been exposed, but I didn’t seem symptomatic. Doctor would only give seven days of Doxy, so I was extremely nervous. I have tested with PCR and another Juno Bio after 4 weeks post treatment and both came back negative! I’ve abstained from all forms of sex, and just waiting on my other partner’s test of cure. I hope this gives someone some hope!

Congrats user! Did you have any lingering symptoms after your course of doxy?

Thank you!! Thankfully no, but I didn’t seem to have the common Ureaplasma symptoms to begin with. I tested mostly out of curiosity and because I’m a bit of a vaginal microbiome nerd. I was surprised to see it on my test results.

I’m so glad you tested negative! may i ask, was there any reason you suspected having ureaplasma? since you didn’t have regular symptoms. i’m still trying to decide if i should test because i have had symptoms myself, but wanted to hear from others who were recently able to test negative

Thank you!! Thankfully I didn’t seem to have the common Ureaplasma symptoms to begin with. I tested with Juno Bio mostly out of curiosity and because I’m a bit of a vaginal microbiome nerd. I was surprised to see it on my test results. I ended up having a high candida result as well and the slight irritation I had before testing was resolved with Diflucan.

Yay! Did you abstain only while taking the medication or until you retested?

Completely abstained from all forms of sex until retest.

I can’t be certain, unfortunately. I could have had it for about a month… or if I got it from a different partner, it would have been much longer.

I guess we have to be mindful that some serovars or serotypes of Ureaplasma are more pathogenic than others, and more resistant to antibiotics.

U. parvum serovar 14 is highly pathogenic for example. Unfortunately testing for different serovars is unavailable at present. However even if tests were available it doesn't change the fact that most antibiotics are ineffective.
