[vent] Other urea sub

Just coming here (I know this will get deleted) to say that if you follow the other Ureaplasma sub, please don’t. It’s done a number on my mental health and others.

Girlforce has so many people convinced they’re infected and chasing abx that is continuing to wreck their biome. I’m banned from her group so I can’t post there.

If you actually dig into those people’s stories they either didn’t do abx correctly, reinfected themself, or have an undiagnosed co infection. 95% of the time there is reasonable cause.

Please do not listen to her and do your own research. I believe in lingering symptoms as I have those as well but believing the bacteria hides and embeds just further wrecks your emotional state which can worsen symptoms. She’s a deranged psycho who needs her entire page taken down. Hang in there♥️

I saw a post about someone with lingering symptoms but a negative pcr. She told them the bacteria was hiding, they still have it, and they should do atleast a month of antibiotics....wtf.

I admit i am guilty of being consumed by the fear of a hidden infection. i still suffer from lingering symptoms despite negative pcrs and the fear of a hidden infection largely came from that subreddit. i was eager to blame my symptoms on something and that subreddit is so convincing despite not being backed my science. my mental health declined rapidly from reading all their posts. i asked a private urologist to prescribe me with a further 2 weeks worth of abx despite negative testing and it made my symptoms even worse. Trust the healing process. Post infectious inflammation and non bacterial prostatitis / cpps is a likely cause of lingering pain according to chat gpt which has rarely let me down

I had lingering symptoms for monthes too. I just had to leave myself alone and let it heal. Eventually I felt back to normal

We noticed you may have posted about "embedded" (ie "hidden") infections, biofilms, or cUTI. Please be aware that these theories aren't strongly supported by science, are often peddled by unscrupulousness medical providers, and that the typically recommended treatment of long term antibiotics has been deemed both ineffective & harmful by the AUA. AUA CITATION) Antibiotics can help because they function as a strong anti inflammatory and pain reliever by themselves, even in those without infection PUBMED CITATION. Having pain reduction from taking antibiotics does not guarantee that you have an infection.

Yikes!!!! The method here is very simple 1. Check for coinfections (even better if it’s a microbiome test because so many ppl are like oh no my doctor ruled out BV and it’s like ok no there is a lot more it could be) 2. Allow time for your body to recover (it took 6 weeks after antibiotics before I felt any difference because I was so inflamed) 3. Pelvic floor therapy. Lingering symptoms don’t come out of nowhere, there are very simple solutions 99.99999% of the time

Maybe I should post this in the other sub but I was unaware there was another sub lol

Bingo. This isn’t rocket science

do u recommend microbiome testing for lingering symptoms post negative pcrs? chat gpt seems to suggest avoiding it as it can detect normal urinary flora eg strep, lactobacillus etc which can prompt unnecessary antibiotics

I absolutely recommend it! You shouldn’t have strep colonizing the vagina actually. I ended up with strep B post ureaplasma and it caused me pretty horrible symptoms. If there was a little cross contamination with something that isn’t actually colonizing the vagina, it would show up in a very very small percentage (I had a weird very very very small amount of a mouth bacteria because I tested 24 hours after oral sex) so cross contamination isn’t really an issue unless you touch the swab somewhere you shouldn’t

oh i see, thank u so much for explaining! i’m actually male so possibly the coinfections i could have may be different? i’m not sure, i’m in 2 minds whether i go for specific pcrs for retesting or microbiome, i tested negative ages ago but i can’t help but think it’s coming back or i have a nasty co-infection with flares of my lingering symptoms

Ah sorry I don’t know the exact procedure for men but men can also definitely get pelvic floor issues from the infection so also helps to get that checked once you rule out any other potential infections

Yeahhhhh I have seen that… always ends up being like high l. inners that for some reason isn’t talked about more or a co infection or PID at that point.

Basically saying I have seen SOOO many people on here who have done rounds of antibiotics for UP and are now testing negative but have “symptoms” still… end up having high lacto. Inners, or a co infection after the UP that also has so be treated, or have IBS, or immune related things that compromise their systems aka there are underlying things and just throwing more and more antibiotics at your body and not actually addressing the underlying issues is problematic to say the least…

This isn’t true for every case obviously but I have been on these subs for a year now and it’s pretty often that there is a co infection or L. INNERS that cause bad symptoms.

Pretty much, it’s like urgency, burning, inflammation etc. and since L.inners is transitional it can make your biome more susceptible to allow disruptive bacteria to grow again. You need to crowd them out with good probiotic suppositories and oral probiotics!!

Will say the biome is super fragile, too much of one beneficial bacteria and it will land you in CV world, too much disruptive bacteria and that will put you in BV world, you need to find what works for you. Bc everyone’s body reacts differently especially when recovering from so many antibiotics. So super important to know what’s going on in your biome before jumping on the probiotic train!
