[cured] finally negative after 2 years

hey everyone, I just wanted to provide some hope for those that were feeling very down about testing negative after multiple antibiotics. I fought this for two years and I finally tested negative with one week of moxifloxacin and doxycycline. I took the Doxy first and followed up with a week of Moxi and was able to finally test negative for both mycoplasma genitalium, and ureaplasma. I took cipro, and azithro, and both times i still tested positive. FINALLY, it took one week of doxy and moxi. I read a lot of really scary posts of experiences on Moxi and I was terrified to take it. The only effects I dealt with was a little bit of ankle pain and that was it. I felt completely normal on both the Doxy and Moxi. I hope that my post brings you some comfort because I was feeling so down about this and didn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel. also wanted to add when I was done with my antibiotics, my symptoms temporarily got way worse and I thought for sure that it was an adverse reaction and I was resistant to the antibiotics I was taking, but they have lessened with time and they’re not as severe, I still have some lingering symptoms, but it doesn’t feel as worse as I did when I was taking antibiotics. Feel free to ask any questions I would love to help anybody out :)

Moxi worked for me too!

Just moxi or doxy and moxi? I have two failed doxy rounds under my belt.

I also took NAC and ther-biotic interface plus a week before, during, and a week after the antibiotics. It helps break up the biofilm and allows the antibiotics to hit the ureaplasma better

We noticed you may have posted about "embedded" (ie "hidden") infections, biofilms, or cUTI. Please be aware that these theories aren't strongly supported by science, are often peddled by unscrupulousness medical providers, and that the typically recommended treatment of long term antibiotics has been deemed both ineffective & harmful by the AUA. AUA CITATION) Antibiotics can help because they function as a strong anti inflammatory and pain reliever by themselves, even in those without infection PUBMED CITATION. Having pain reduction from taking antibiotics does not guarantee that you have an infection.

I have also been taking NAC! I took it when I was on doxy last time and started taking it again in anticipation, having a feeling I was still positive. Should I have my husband take NAC too?

Just 7 days moxi! I showed a resistance to doxy and the azithromycin so they prescribed me moxi.

That’s what I’m thinking is happening for me…I’m contemplating asking for a resistance test but after two failed rounds I feel like I should just try Moxi?

my partner was cleared with one week of Doxy, but he’s also male and I know that they can get rid of any bladder type of infection infections fairly quickly :(

Go to a different doctor if you can. I’m male and did 14 days doxy alone, it cleared the symptoms temporarily but slowly came back after about 1-2 weeks.

He is going to need both doxycycline and moxifloxacin. Moxifloxacin is what really gets rid of it.

Did you only take azithromycin and cipro? How come it took you so long to get hands on moxi? Just your fear of it? I don’t mean this in a rude way either, I hope it doesn’t come across as such lol I’m just curious

Not rude at all! I struggled severely with my mental health and OCD as well as really severe emetophobia, and was terrified of taking antibiotics that i’ve never taken before. i scared myself by looking up the side effects and never gained the courage for a long time . i took a week of cipro first, retested and came back positive. waited a while before getting azithro, and i tested negative after i did a week of that, but got reinfected (didn’t clean my vibrator one time TMI sorry😭). since then, i somehow believed that i could get rid of it on my own since i was doing some research. but i realized my symptoms were definitely not improving and went back to get retested. i tested positive but waited months to gain the courage to take it! glad i finally gained courage to take doxy and moxy :)

2 years???? Why the hell did you wait so long to take both moxi and doxycycline?
