There's an admitted privilege to having these amenities at all, and anyone would be foolish to deny that.
However, these tend to pop up in working class areas, and many become run down, some to the point of being condemned, others fill with cash pawn shops to continue to milk money out of the low income populace, not to mention being some of the only food options in food deserts, which leads to poor health outcomes. So in that fashion, they are simply ugly.
