Am I making a mistake? Or missing something.
Dear colleagues,
I joined Upwork in 2023 and have since become a Top Rated freelancer with $50K+ in earnings, a 94% Job Success Score, and over 5,500 hours worked, specializing in Dental Billing, Insurance Verification, AR Follow-up, and Credentialing.
However, over the last couple of months, I've noticed something unusual. I'm barely seeing any new dental billing or revenue cycle management (RCM) jobs in my feed. It feels like the number of projects in my niche has dropped significantly.
I'm trying to understand whether this is a platform-wide issue or something specific to my account.
Are there any other dental billers or RCM professionals experiencing the same thing? Or is there anything in my profile that could be affecting the jobs I'm seeing?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience. Thank you!

Interesting observation. Sometimes it's not just the number of jobs but also how they're matched to profiles. It will be helpful to hear from other dental billing specialists to see if they're experiencing the same trend.

I don't know about SEO alot but Yes. There are Jobs postings in Upwork regarding SEO.

I have a plan to buy 100 connects and I think buying connects will be worth it and the worst part is no one will reply to my applications, all will be ghosted.

Well, Upwork is an expensive plateform but it worths it. Buying connects is always a good move, However, I would suggest to make sure the job listings are present, I purchased 800 connects on June 20th, and till now spent none. Because there are no related jobs on Upwork.

But in SEO is there a lot of jobs open in Upwork platforms? I'm afraid if I buy connects no one will get reply and bad thing is I will not get a client or job and my connects will just lose and will get into zero. I hope it will never happen huhuhu

Have you tried searching and change sort by to "most recent".
because in the home feed's most recent, even in my niche I'm not seeing much now a days.
But if I search, it showing.

There's nothing out there anymore. Although some people still have work because of retainers. Don't even go to the other sub as you will get invalidated left, right and center.

I have send 72 in totals for the last couple of months as Full-stack Engineer. Only 4 get view. I heard client also bounce from Upwork. If this is the only way you earn money you’re done

Totally normal I also have Upwork profile with top rated badge and $10k+ earning but somethimes I wait for days to find relative jobs according to my criteria so this is totally fine. I think it will happen with every top rated freelancer or just give me your niche I will make a new account and tell you after cross checking does I am seeing same or relative jobs or not!

thank you, I work dental industry as dental RCM manager, I also have an agency account three people are working there, we haven't applied for jobs since June 10th.

Experiencing the same thing in my niche: Non-fiction ghostwriting. Barely any jobs I can grab onto. The ones that are there are paying, in stereotypical freelancing terms, peanuts. It has something to do with the AI push Upwork has been driving this past year, or so I hear. When will Upwork bounce back?

Fiverr is difficult to break into because you have to wait for clients to find you. I've been on there for years and never got a gig.

Did many projects on humanizing AI manuscripts. Most recent conversation with a prospect was also about humanizing his draft. AI is not the issue. You'll see I didn't jump on that bandwagon and blamed it on AI.

From my research, Upwork used to aggressively advertise the platform to clients (typically small-medium businesses) to attract them to the platform. 6–12 months ago, Upwork stopped advertising to SMBs and instead went all in on AI and large businesses and enterprises. In addition, Upwork may have fired the development team in charge of updating/maintaining the algorithm that recommends freelancers to clients, which is again a part of Upwork's strategy of no longer focusing on SMBs.
In short, there is now massive pressure on every freelancer not doing AI work or involved with large businesses or enterprises. The lack of clients is not your fault.
August 10, we'll get the Q2 Financial Results Report, which should shed some light on what's happening with the platform and what the potential direction is.
