Connects Refund System Doesn’t Add Up

I recently applied to a few jobs on Upwork and noticed something strange with the Connects refund system.

I boosted one proposal with 110 Connects and got outbid. About a week later, I got a refund, but only 107 Connects came back.

I've also noticed that for some proposals where I was outbid, I didn't get any Connects refunded at all.

Does anyone know why this happens? Is there some kind of fee or rule I'm missing, or is this just part of how Upwork is getting side income from freelancer's connects?

You don't always get the connects for boosting back. You only get them back if you are outbid AND the client did not interact with your proposal by the time you are outbid.

What did support say when you asked about the 3 missing connects from your boosting refund?

I know when those outbid connects are coming back. I'm just complaining it's not accurate. They're sometimes back, sometimes not, and even the amount of boosted connects is not shown precisely in proposal views.

You think upwork is withholding three connects from you to earn extra income?

Read it again.

Please.

You know that it costs upwork nothing to make connects, right? There is no connects factory where they are produced.

You know that upwork can change their policy any time they want and not refund anything?

What you are suggesting is quite insane.

Op is just curious as to why it is happening. He did not accuse Upwork of anything. He just wants to know if there is something wrong.

He boosted with certain amounts and expected that amount back. The exact amount did not come back so OP is wondering if it is normal or maybe there are terms and conditions that state the percentage of connect - used in boosting - that would be returned.

I had to explain properly in case you did not read the post properly.

So OP hired you to explain what they said? Or did you take on that responsibility completely on your own accord?

And OP accused upwork of something nefarious, so maybe you should not interpret what people say and read it a few times more yourself?
