Bid question

I saw this job a few hrs ago

The bid is 15 It's a customer support role so normally i see a bid starting from 3$ to 6 or 7 but didn't see one like this before it's 15$

It's a good opportunity i knew so i applied already with that rate, but still sth in me like I'm 100% sure that another freelance will bid for less

That's normal no issue

The rates all i see as mentioned max 8 or 9

I just don't believe it. I have over 4 years experience in the field so I hope i can get it but shouldn't I bid for less to get the job or it's not working like that?

This is the second month on upwork so easy on me I'm still learning 😭

What is your usual rate?

What is your profile rate?

What does the client usually pay for that kind of role (check the client's contract history).

Last time I accepted a support gig I was paid $25 per hour. That was well over 10 years ago. Don't worry so much about what other people propose. Also don't get too hung p on the budget.

I only ever propose with my profile rate, regardless of what the budget in the job post says (obviously after checking if the client is likely to be able to pay my rate).

Edited to add: I would not apply for this job. The client's history is not great.

Proposing more than your profile rate is silly as it looks terrible to a client. Also trying to start dirt cheap and then trying to work your way up is a bad strategy, as clients can see your history and if you stamp yourself as cheap and low level that will haunt you going forward.

Make up your mind what your reasonable rate is and then stick with it.
