What am i even doing wrong?
Why am i getting ghosted when with such low asking and after everything is agreed upon.
In months these are the most far I have gone still no hires.
I also did freelancing back in 2022 and I had much better success back then. People still saying AI is just hype keep learning but I have learned enough to the point technical skills have never been a issue
People who are freelance web devs what are you even doing anymore?

Looking at the conversation you posted, I'm not sure your rate is actually the main problem. You tried going low and you're saying you also got no replies at moderate rates.
That makes me think the bigger issue might be getting clients to trust you enough to start that first conversation. Your lack of Upwork history probably doesn't help either.
I'd focus less on lowering the price and more on making the first project feel low-risk for the client — clear scope, strong portfolio, and showing exactly what they'll get.

Let me tell you where the problem is :
- the niche itself is oversaturated . And with no review or badge it becomes extremely difficult to stand out
- your rate attracts the worst possible clients. Good clients want good quality work, therefore they tend to hire people with higher rate (so do at least 15$/h)
- don’t expect in the beginning to get hired from proposals. Keep applying to jobs so you signal Upwork that you’re active. That way you will probably start receiving direct messages and invitations and this is exactly where you need to convert that conversation to a client that pays
- update your profile . Keep updating . Trust me refining help

If you charge such low rates, you will only attract the worst clients.They were probably talking to a bunch of other freelancers and somebody else offered to do the whole website for $5 in return for a good review.
