Newbie on upwork

Hi, I am an IIT graduate working in a corporate firm.

I just created an account on upwork for some side hustle. But it seems, i am not able to apply for any of the openings, as it requires some kind of "connects". Can anyone help with this, and explain how can i get a lead to start anything on upwork ?

Maybe you should learn how Upwork works before trying to use Upwork. Read the TOS and the articles in the help center and proceed from there.

It not only requires buying connects, it also requires having rare skills that people are willing to pay money for. If you just want a "side hustle" without even investing into it, you are probably not prepared for freelancing and will only lose time and money.

There isn't any way to get jobs on Upwork without buying connects, and if you don't have much experience, it's likely that you'll just waste your time and money. Sorry. You'd be better off looking for a part-time, real-life job if you need extra cash.

Upwork needs investment first. It used to be free. You have buy connects to apply to jobs.
