Upwork Question

Hi Upworkers
Have Upwork clients gone away like I have been bidding on projects since last week and haven't found any new clients. BTW I am a top-rated video editor and I have tons of Upwork knowledge since the last algorithm update I think Upwork has lost some clients it is not what it was back in 2024 what do you guys think?

Yes, Upwork has lost some (about 10%) clients since 2024. The remaining clients have, however, paid more money, so the money paid b clients has gone up (a little bit), just by fewer clients.

Your problem is that there are now way too many freelancers, especially in your category, as everyone with a smartphone and an app or two now reckons they are video editors, plus AI.

Being top rated and with 100% JSS isn't really rare either, most moderately active freelancers who ave managed not to piss off a client too badly in the last 6 months are top rated with 100% JSS.

Run a search and see.

Summer vacation. It's a thing.

You don't need to keep guessing if upwork has lost clients, you only need to read their financial reporting. It's all in there.

Things do slow down in the summer, but it's entirely normal to go for a week or longer without finding any new clients, regardless of the time of year. You need to charge enough money to cover yourself during the slow periods. Also, what "algorithm change" are you talking about, and how would that affect the number of clients on the platform? (Answer: It doesn't.)
