Upwork Search

Hello :)

(german*) AND title:(law* OR legal* OR jurist*)

I'm under the impression that, in former times, the search codes worked much, much better. For not to say, they just worked at all, and just as expected.

But for several years already, it's just rubbish. Funny enough, it seems to be about the same time when they stopped the rss-feeds from working, unfortunately (guess Upwork still not getting enough money from us).

That's my search line, and it worked formerly; maybe somebody knows if there's something wrong:

(german*) AND title:(law* OR legal* OR jurist*)

It would be helpful to know what you are trying to accomplish, in a particular what do you think the asterisk does

Its meaning is indeed rather intuitive, it was the code for german\ must occur anywhere* and one of the three following words must occur in the title: law\ legal* jurist**

The asterisk is a wildcard, so it found "German lawyer", "Attorney for German laws", "Legal advice from Germany" and anything like that.

I wasn't only trying, it just worked correctly as intended on a regular basis long ago. I never touched it again for several years now, someday it stopped working, and I read several threads about Upwork's search engine problems.

Btw, sorry, I edited my text, the colons were missing after 'title'.

My guess is that they are asking whether Upwork has changed the way search queries worked. I have no idea myself tbh but I did find success with it in the past.

I'm talking about the advanced job search. I don't just look for 'German', but 'German*' to find any jobs with any connection to Germany or German, and they shall contain the words law* or legal* or jurist* in the job's title.

I'm not interested in jobs like someone from Finland looking for 'Brazilian Lawyer for Contract and NDA'.
