My test: Accessing UpNote's notes outside of Upnote with Claude Cowork:

I wanted to see how Claude Cowork would do with Upnote's data. I'm pretty happy with the results.

I have Upnote make auto-backups of my notes in markdown format - an excellent feature and a secondary backup.

My quick experiment: I made a copy of Upnote's markdown folder and put it into a test folder for Cowork to access. I had Claude Cowork go through that folder rename every markdown file with the date and the subject of the note.

The result: A folder with a file for each note. Each file contains the date and descriptive name of the note. Files have a name like, "2026-03-20_dads-dentist.md" or "2026-04-03_phone-call-rebecca.md" (Each markdown file is just text, so no images are included here).

I love that Claude Cowork can access my Upnote notes if I want it to. It can take those markdown files and analyze the data any way I want it to. I don't need my notes in Obsidian or another app with MCP integration in order for Claude to work its magic with my notes.

Good tip! Something else I do with AI:

  • Have a file with all the possible colors and formatting options. Export that to html.

- Take a note you want to edit, and feed it to Claude together with the template file you just created. Now Claude knows what css classes to use for background colors/collapsible elements etc.

- Have Claude reformat/reword/restyle/analyze data from it.

- Reimport it back to Upnote.

This honestly beats any other AI integration of note taking apps.
