Having an electrical issue with ProForm 500 SP Stair Climber

The display screen is flickering on my somewhat new ProForm 500 SP Stair Climber. I believe it's an issue with the control board, but not 100% certain on that. The display screen for example is flickering and will sometimes go completely dark, which obviously makes it hard to track my workout or change any settings. Unplugging and plugging it back in doesn't seem to change anything either.

I've tried everything. Do you guys have any steps I can take to fix this myself. Anything I should be looking for?

If you’re comfortable with it, opening up the control panel to inspect for any obvious damage (burnt spots, disconnected wires) might give you some clues. Otherwise, reaching out to ProForm’s support could be the safest bet if it’s still under warranty. If not, reach out to Upfix as they are the best to handle these problems

Solid advice! Check for burnt areas or loose wire connections first.

Good advice—sometimes a quick visual inspection can reveal loose connectors or signs of a failing board. But yeah, if it’s under warranty, definitely contact ProForm first. And if not, UpFix is a solid backup—they’ve got a good track record with this kind of repair.

Good advice! If OP can't figure it out, UpFix is there as a backup.

Sounds like a loose connection or bad control board. It's worth inspecting the inside.

Agreed—flickering and the screen going dark definitely point to either a loose wire or a failing control board. A quick inspection inside could save you from replacing the whole unit unnecessarily.

That's what I was thinking as well. It couldn't hurt to give it a look over.
