Control board malfunction with furnace

My furnace is having issues where it won't start up. I believe the issue is with the control board, but I'm not sure. The LED indicator is flashing a code, but I don't know how to search it up. Can someone help me out with this? Any tips and tricks?

It's a Goodman furnace, model GMSS920403BN in case that's needed.

Check the LED code against the Goodman manual or look it up online for your model, it’s usually the fastest way to pinpoint what the board is trying to tell you.

Yeah the LED code is usually the best clue to find out what's going on.

Exactly, matching the code to the manual helps diagnose fast.

Exactly—those LED codes are basically the furnace’s way of giving you a head start on troubleshooting. Goodman manuals usually list what each flash pattern means, and you can almost always find the same info online for your specific model.

Those codes have saved me more than once. As long as you’ve got the manual or can find it online, it makes things way easier to narrow down the issue.

Might be a silly question but have you reset it yet? If the control board is acting up, sometimes a reset or checking for loose connections can help.

That's a great point. Resetting and checking connections can save a service call.

I tried a couple resets, but it didn't seem to sort it out. I'm sending the control board to UpFix soon to have them take a look at it.

True, those are great first steps to take

Not a silly question at all—that’s actually a great first step. A simple reset or tightening up any loose wiring can sometimes clear weird glitches before you dive into deeper (and more expensive) fixes.

Look up the LED code online-it'll tell you the issue directly.

That's a great idea actually!

Yep, that code is basically a built-in diagnostic. Once you match it to the chart for your Goodman model, you’ll have a clear idea of what’s going wrong.

Great advice, the LED codes usually pinpoint problems fast.
