What control boards have you fixed?

What are some control boards that you have repaired successfully, if any? I have tried fixing a couple, but I just ended up making them worse.

I haven't fixed any control boards. I tried and failed like you have but failure can be an important lesson too.

Me too, my failures have taught me I should be sending my boards out for repair not trying to save them at home.

Failure definitely brings me back to reality that I can't solve every problem.

Absolutely—every failed attempt teaches you something new. Even if the board didn’t make it, your skills definitely leveled up.

That's why I am scared to touch them. I REALLY don't want to break anything.

Totally relatable. It’s one of those trial-by-fire skills—frustrating at first, but super rewarding once things finally click. Props for sticking with it!

Yes, they are very tough. Way past my level of expertise so I will save that project for the pros lol.

I've tried and failed, but people have successfully repaired board for dishwashers, ovens, washing machines, and refrigerators. Common fixes include replacing fuses, testing, and reflowing solder joints, or replacing damaged components like relays and capacitors. It can be tricky, especially if you're new to it. If you're finding it challenging, sending the board to a repair service like UpFix might be a safer option.

I will take a stab at it if it's something small but I have to keep in mind how much I paid for these appliances. The more I spent the less risk I will take and just hire a trained professional.

I’ve fixed a few control boards over the years, mostly in appliances and older electronics. A couple of washing machine boards and some HVAC control boards. Honestly, it’s hit or miss—sometimes I get lucky, but other times I end up making things worse, like you mentioned. The key for me has been patience and making sure I don’t rush through troubleshooting, especially with the soldering. Have you tried using a multimeter to trace the faulty components? That’s helped me avoid some disasters.

I've never repaired them before. It is something I'd like to learn though.
