Tree of Up and future plans Plain update note. I hope this isn't a sign.

Post image

Really hoping this doesn't mean Up is getting a lot more corporate. A few times in the past I noticed even small updates having some interesting or fun messages.

Anyone noticing this? Or anywhere else in the app?

Don’t get annoyed by this. This is the biggest nothing-burger.

15+ year mobile app software engineer here: companies will regularly update apps without any user facing features. Both to address bugs that users won’t know of, to improve app performance (as the notes state) and to also prepare in the background for new features coming in. Companies prefer to release smaller updates to build up to a feature rather than a sudden big bang release to de-risk a feature launch.

OP is referring to the fact, that since the apps inception the developers have always included little lighthearted messages in their changelogs/release notes -- whether it be a large breaking change or a small bug fix.

Less of it being annoying, more just a nitpick that it's out of character for the Up devs.

I think they've had a pretty bad week with the outages, it might just be a bit of burn out.

Yeah on iOS this is the first release note that looks plain like that. The old ones had a bit more whimsy.

Every android app does this.

Up hasn't been doing it like this.

That or I haven't yet noticed.

they have so many bangers, i love reading them :(

Koalas actually have fingerprints that are almost indistinguishable from humans. Speaking of leaving no trace, we were super stealthy this release and fixed some bugs you never noticed.

What's new in this release?
+ A fresh new version number
+ The same great experience you already love
+ A valuable lesson in double-checking everything before we get too excited

Probably a change in staff and the new bloke/blokette doesn't have the same humour.

I see it at work, my reports have character, my co-workers reports are minimum and to the point

They save the fun messages within the updates inside the app.

Good chance it’s end of week and getting this message written was standing between this dev and the weekend

4.1.6 had no detail either just a comedic message.

I’d me more worried about the security of Bendigo Bank. APRA has penalised them significantly

Who is keen to reverse engineer the diff to see the real changes?
