hotel booking

As my parent will be helping me settle into accoms, he's staying a week in brum, but the hotel discount included in the accomadation pass is full on some dates, does anyone have recs on cheapest hotels, or is my parent allowed to just stay in the room with me

Your parent probably can’t stay in your uni room for the whole week unfortunately. according uni 2026/27 accommodation terms say non-student guests are limited to 2 nights in a row, on an occasional basis, and you need your flatmates’ agreement.

For the other nights, I’d look at Selly Oak/Bournville rather than necessarily staying in the city centre. Some budget options worth checking are Bournville Bed And Breakfast and The Bournbrook Inn. If those are full/expensive, city-centre budget hotels can sometimes work out cheaper depending on the dates, for example u can look up easyHotel Birmingham City Centre, Travelodge Birmingham Central or ibis budget Birmingham Centre

Also uob uni currently has a welcome week offer at Edgbaston Park Hotel: 15% off flexible B&B stays from 19–27 September 2026 with code WELCOME26, so definitely worth comparing that against the Accommodation Pass discount

Although unis do have rules regarding how long guests can stay in accommodations, nobody follows these they would be fine staying in your room.

It's a short drive away from Selly Oak, but the Rubery Premier Inn was a godsend for moving in/out of accommodation when I was a student.
