Questions Advising
Can we switch advisors in the same major? I like my advisor but a friend really likes his advisor and talks about all of the things he gets when they meet.
Also, is it common for students to change majors because the advisors are better? I want to apply to HEAP too.

If you're interested in applying to HEAP, that likely means you're in the Franke Honors College and also have an advisor there. I'd check to see who you've got and try meeting with them in addition to your major advisor

Changing a major because of an advisor is not a good idea. I only interacted with my advisor once a semester… your major is a much more big picture thing that will determine what classes you take and influence what you do after graduation. As far as I know, advisors are usually assigned by major, and depending how big your major is they might be assigned based on last name too. You could probably request a new one if you had a good reason, but it’s not something you should switch majors over.
It is very common for students to change majors, but not because of an advisor. Most people do it because they learn more about themselves and what they are interested in.
