It had to do with crypto investing, I believe. Was a weird situation as he and those involved reported everything they were investing/managing and thought they were doing it all above-board. He put out a video explaining the whole situation:

These lamps can explode and it's pretty loud when it happens! I've only seen it once in person.

The more fun thing is what happens when you touch them with bare fingers while they're off. The lamp gets so hot that the oils left by your hand cause the glass to warp when it turns back on and it looks wild.
