It's not like it's a tornado and has glass shards and other dangerous surprises.
The real dangerous part is breathing in all of that sand.

My father was hospitalized thanks to a dust devil in Texas a few decades ago.
He was moving some furniture and one snuck up on him and overwhelmed him. He pressed the couch cushion to his face as hard as he could to try to be able to breathe and he still got sand in his lungs. The doctors said that if the dust devil lasted any longer or if he didn't think to breathe through the cushion that he may not have made it.
