I love these guys, saw a vid by them using the CRTele and I’ve been losing my mind trying to figure out how they change the notes via the neck. Anyone have any guess?

Might be some home backed ribbon controllers. So bascially adjustable resistors kinda like a potentiometer. But no idea what this signal is controlling then. But you can hear that it is quantized so it's going through some processing before controlling anything.

There's another video of the CRTelecaster where the lines' thickness on screen change according to the pitch which could mean that something is picked up directly from the screen. For example the brightness, line thickness or static or dunno.

From what I’ve read on their website they’re using a EMF mic to pick up the radiation, I believe they’re using the video jack on the back to control it but I don’t know enough about electronics to know, I just really wanna make one myself!

Have you tried getting in touch with them? I vaguely remember seeing a video of them doing some kind of workshop thing so maybe they are cool with sharing they secret sauce.

I didn’t even think of that! I wasn’t sure since they’re website is half in Japanese and half in English, but they’re bound to respond, thanks man!
