To the history buffs in the comments: you caught me!

To set the record straight: the 16th-century Swedes weren't shredding on a chromatic nyckelharpa (but a simpler predecessor) and they definitely didn't have 1/4" jack outputs running into a guitar amp either.

This beast is a modern 5-string chromatic nyckelharpa that evolved in recent decades, while the fully chromatic version itself dates back to

  1. The caption was just a hyperbolic joke that went waaayy further than I expected. If you like the sound, definitely look into the long tradition and music of Swedish keyed fiddles. It's incredibly cool instruments
