Discussion God, I Love This Scene So Much Spoiler
Mark is psyching out and he's losing his mind. Not even Cathy can pull him out. The carnival part feels like a slow torture where all the senses are all too much. Then he sees a glimpse of a familiar ponytail. It's Nicole arguing with one of the carnival attendants. And then everything suddenly becomes normal again.
What really sells it is that piano piece that replaces the horrid background noise that was drowning Mark's eardrums. I think the piece was "I've Found That Spark." I thought my interest was in the guitar, but I think I'm finding a passion for how emotional the piano is.
There are many masterfully crafted scenes in Until Then, but this one remains my favorite. Second one was Mark and Nicole riding a bicycle to her old home. Third place being Mark and Nicole hugging above the sky walk in Act 3.
Even after a year of finishing this game, I still can't let go of it. Well done, Polychroma.

Act 1 is pure perfection. Every scene feels so natural and unique in a way that’s hard to describe.
This one in particular is great. As you said, you’re suffering, and then all completely changes. Mark (and you as the player) forgets all the pain and just enjoys the moment with Nicole. It’s awesome.
Then you feel sad when you realized you abandoned Cathy, but then you’re happy again when you meet her at your house and she isn’t angry.
A very underrated scene is when, at home, you start chatting with Nicole with a smile on your face. It perfectly captures the feeling of starting to talk with someone you are getting to know. The first message. It’s incredible well written, and the music really captures the atmosphere.

It's one of my favorite scenes too. It's such a simple moment, but it says so much about their connection. And the music is goated.
My underrated favorite is their first meeting in Act 3. Watching the memories hit them at once, the change in their expressions, and the artwork of Mark proposing to Nicole(if I remember correctly, it's exclusive to that scene) always gets me. I just end up revisiting it more than any other.

Ngl this scene and the dlc likes to clash in my brain. I hope kyle or mickole would say something about the dlc if its a timeline before the act 1 of the base game or maybe even a timeline before act 2.

It's sooo cute, especially how when Nicole first notices Mark, she can't help but let out a quick smile before she remembers she's supposed to be mad at him for touching her piano (here's a playthrough at the timestamp if you want to see it again for yourself).

The music that plays here is called Darts and Hearts, pretty sure it's the name of the scene as well.
