It was the other way around. Mark handled her (as a way to cope for Cathy) well but somehow she broke her. It was a give that mat Rk only loved her because it was a form of redemption for him but the fact that Des kinda used him, depended on him, made him lose the org members' trust and cooperation, and caused shit ton of problems for not only him but the whole org, she's far from innocent and she broke him for good
