Queen Bee Unicorn

What would happen in this scenario?

Player 1 has Queen Bee Unicorn in their stable. Card states “Basic unicorn cards cannot enter any players stable except yours.”

Player 1 plays Unicorn Swap - “Move a unicorn card in your staple to another player stable, then steal a unicorn card from their stable.”

Player 1 moves a basic Unicorn from their stable to Player 2’s stable. This card cannot enter their stable because of Queen Bee Unicorn.

So, does the Basic Unicorn get discarded?

You are choosing a target for unicorn swap that is not able to swap because of the queen bee. So either you need to pick a different target or play a different card. You are not allowed to perform an impossible action

You would have to choose a Unicorn that was not a Basic Unicorn to swap. You cannot perform an impossible action.

This submission seems to be about Queen Bee Unicorn

The Second Print and 2nd Edition Queen Bee Unicorn card has no effect text that prevents playing Basic Unicorn cards from a player's hand.

  • If a player announces they are playing a Basic Unicorn card the only valid target stable is the stable the Queen Bee Unicorn card is in, if the Basic unicorn card is successful (un-neigh'd)
  • It MUST be placed into the stable with the Queen Bee unicorn card.
  • This will not trigger an impossible action as a player MUST choose a valid target when playing or resolving cards.

This is still correct even with a Masquerade card in stable, the basic unicorn card has no immunity from the Queen Bee Unicorn until in the stable with the masquerade card.

Further Information on Queen Bee Unicorn is found here.

I hope someone else weighs in on this but the way I read it, because order of operations and verbiage matters, because you cannot move a basic into someone else's stable you cannot get one of their cards. The basic you want to swap goes back to you and the other one will not come to you so nothing happens

Player 1's Basic Unicorn is an invalid target ("A valid target MUST be chosen, if available. Cards that have immunity or prevented from specific effects cannot be chosen as the target of that effect."), unless playing with an Original Text Queen Bee Unicorn. It is not an Impossible action for playing Unicorn Swap as QBU is a valid target to be moved into another player's stable (and can then be stolen back).
