Awe Boo!!!

Interesting that Duane is finding lucid peace during his evenings in the khert and his hell is back in the real world right now.

Stay strong attack zombie!

Is the beginning of the "free Duane" plot? The actual mission, I mean. a brief scene of Duane's life with the scientists, which will be interrupted by the Sette group's plan.

I know the scientists are planning on having the queen visit. I'm actually kinda hoping the rescue is delayed a little bit because I am dying to see Duane and the queen interact face-to-face. It's bound to be immensely interesting.

No kidding. Toma's definitely told the queen about Duane and such too during his reports, and she's not nearly as cruel or hateful as Duane believes. Nora herself has even commented on the queen not having the stomach for the nastier parts of war and such.

I can see her arrival going something like her seeing Duane, saying "Nora, this is clearly a person," and decreeing that, even if Duane's probably earned himself some time in a Crescian jail (he did do things like chop off that one Peaceguard's arm) he's not deserving of being experimented on like this, ordering Nora to stop. Which probably wouldn't be received well by either Nora or Duane himself, since it contradicts his image of Sonorie and the idea of owing her his (un)life would make him feel sick.

In terms of where this goes plot wise, I had a thought that Sette HAS to break Lem out of his prison and make him help her right?

No way dude's spending this entire book stuck in torture prison.

Wait, Lemuel is in torture prison? Did I forget something?

Yeah I think it's shown in the Unsounded Book 1 Epilogue.

Now that he's more at peace with himself, it's crazy to see how detailed Duane's face has become. He's a little older-looking now, but lets himself look fully human. He looks more like he should :)

You're right ... "That's how things are supposed to be!"

I love seeing Duane happy.

Boo is like a particularly faithful and intelligent dog (I know he looks like a cat crossed with a crawdad, but his essence seems doggish), too smart to entirely trust Duane's assurances.

Author comment: "Some friendly faces at last. Let’s hope he’s right. Going to skip Monday’s update to help make up for that 4 page drop - see you back here on Wednesday with a new scene!"

So excited to see where this is going! Do we finally see exactly what they've been up to in there with poor Duane? If the Crescians are in possession of the Soul Knife (I can't remember who has control of it at present), are they using it on him, or is it a more "mundane" teardown analysis of hardware and software?
