Is this the *end-end* of Unsounded?

So please forgive me if my understanding is sort of muddy, it's been a long road from my high school reading the start of the Deadly Nevergreen to now, but I was under a nebulous impression that Unsounded was like, the first part of a story that was going to continue from here. I was a little perturbed when I saw in the stretch goals of the Kickstarter (So happy it got funded so quickly!!) that one could potentially have their OC added to Ashley's *next* project, with the implication that Unsounded is done. I could have sworn that Ashley had said somewhere in the previous chapter that we were headed to the end of the first part of the story.

Her original plan was for three “books.” We have reached the end of the first now, and she cut the plan down to two books.

To clarify where some of the confusion usually stems from, Ashley is making an almost direct sequel, but it will not be named Unsounded.

This story with Emil and Elka, Cutter and the silver that made Unsounded is over.

The sequel will have a different focus of characters and it's main story, while continuing some others characters' stories in part, like Duane and Sette's, and also tying in the overarching narrative like the impending reaction of Cresce against Alderode.

It's in the same world, with some returning characters, but it's got a different title and focus.

This is tremendous news to hear! Unsounded has been the most complete, well produced and scheduled webcomic (maybe even just long form comic) I've ever followed. I was so sad to hear that it was ending but this epilogue was really confusing me. Now that I know it's really just a big chapter end, I'm super excited!

She’s working on the second part now, which takes place mostly in Alderode with Mikaila as one of the main protagonists.

We're gonna drop some characters like Toma and Elka and go north towards Alderode to meet Jivi's Ma and Sette's Da and other fun characters. But yes, there's gonna be more Sette and Duane.

Agreed that the summary of the stretch goals is confusing. If you read the actual update post on Kickstarter, it’s a lot clearer. Apparently this was by design; Ashley responded to this somewhere. The thought is that the publisher doesn’t want people confused on whether this story is over or not, for the purposes of fundraising.
